The length was already adjusted in the picture with only a few threads left. That's pretty much maxed out. Is this the extension you're talking about?
Any downsides to using 2 of these extensions? Feel that only 1 may still be too short

you should be able to make it work with 1. I would mock everything up then measure the rod length. remember the threaded section is also for setting preload on the flapper door.

Should be dropping the turbo/manifold today and putting the new wastegate on. I was just wondering if anybody's ever had issues with the wastegate flapper coming loose and completely breaking off? Seems like it could be a possible cause of the problem as it would cause the boost issues thats happening.

Never heard of that problem, but I can see why you're thinking it must be something going on with the flapper door.

The only issue I know of with a internal gate is cracking around the waste gate hole. In some cases the cracks become wide enough to allow pressure to go past.

Pulled the turbo off earlier today. What I found was that the way the wastegate was set it held the wastegate flapper almost completely open. The wastegate that was on was also shot and rusted so it couldn't be adjusted. Put the hks wastegate on and its boosting fine now, problem solved.
