which AMSoil to run
i have been looking into alot of different oils and the 2 best oils i have been able to find near me are ENEOS and AMSOIL, the eneos is too expendsive and so i want to go with AMSOIL, BUT i am torn between 3 different oils of theirs

AMSOIL SSO 0w-30
AMSOIL ATM 10W-30
AMSOIL ASL 5W-30

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/sso.aspx
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atm.aspx
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asl.aspx

my tuner recomended me 0w-50 eneos oil, but i dont know what their oil weights actually equate to soil weights, ive heard that eneos 0w-50 is like 30 weight, but i donno

i called AMSOIL and they recomended either the ATM OR ASL, for my application, altho i have heard and read ALOT about the sso in the evo and sti and other high horsepwer applications.

my question is o you guys think i would be safe running the 0w-30 amsoil? i dont want to mess anything up, its just that i havent read a whoe lot about the atm or asl and i have read up on the SSO do i am just torn

any input?

Run the 0w50 like your tuner says. I run 20w50 Amsoil in my turbo car. We have a place here called Joes or GI joes that has cases pretty cheap.

The 0 wieght is for when its cold and is thicker due to the temp. If my reading is correct that makes it a very good viscosity for quick lubrication on start-up.

Go do some research on on BITOG.com for oil tips. I ran Castrol syn 0w30 in my VE and my BITOG research indicated that that oil actually "acts" more like a 40 weight.

yeah i just dont want to choose the wrong oil and screw up the motor, i know that sounds stupid, but the car is making double what it did before, just dont want to get the wrong thing. i would get the eneos but they are charging way to much for it, and i dont have a credit card or pp account to buy online, so i am stuck with only what i can find locally.

they have the amsoil sso 0w-30 readily available, locally, have heard good thing just dont know if its too thin or not. ive read that the thinner the oil is better becuase it makes max power and flows the best, then i read that too thin can cause wear issues, then i read too thick can put excess strain o the internal parts and cause flow issues lol.....its all scaring me lol

sso

the only oil that will screw up you engine is the oil you dont change regularlly.

but yes 0 weight is scarry you may have a noisyer engine at idle and very low oil pressure at idle

neither will hurt the engine but still scarry

if you are running nos or if your gt turbo makes more than 5psi before 2k rpm then i would not run 0 weight oil if you are lookin to get more than 30k miles outta the engine

the light weight oil can cause a condition at low engine speeds were there is not enuph hydrolic force on the rod bearings to stop the rod from bottoming out on the crank and hitting metal on metal

happens allthe time on roots blower engines were boost is avalable off idle even if you run 50 weight oil the rod bearings wipe the crank

the most important thing you can do to save your engine is keep dirt out of it .

if dust can get in the cylinders then your gonna loose ring seal and power just diminishes once you loose a little ring seal you get extra combustion gasses breaking down your oil and turning it black along with the dust turning it black

if oil looks dark change it but i am an anal sob

I'm in the same situation as you. Choosing the right oil for my sr20de+t that will be swapped in a couple of months. The majority of sr20 owners go with mobil 1 10w-30.

How much is the shop charging for Eneos 0w-50? Normal price is $9.99 from what I seen. I dont know how much amsoil costs, so I dont know the price difference.

How about 5w-40?
