Dumb question (must ask, can't find answer...)
Question pertains to DET block and P11 tranny. I know that I've seen this specific information before, but never bookmarked it and now I'm curious...

When mounting the tranny to the block, are there a few holes that will not line up? The 12mm bolts towards the front of the bay line up fine, as well as the 10mm bolts on top, and the bolts for the starter. Tranny is mounted and flush, but it looks like there's a couple holes on the rear in the starter area that don't line up.

I realize that was a noob question, but the search function is owning my ass on this site and the other :o

Every sr20 tranny that I have seen has those unused holes.

Cool, thanks.

Thought I was crazy, becuase there's a wear pattern on the tranny mating surface, from the DE block. Or maybe I'm just seeing things...

Did it have the little plate in there:

Yeah. Re-used it of course. I was fortunate enough to remove a guide pin from the tranny, that snuck it's way out of the block, before I re-mounted it. I would have been UBER pissed after 6 hours of trying/failing/finally succeeding in mounting the tranny, only to have to remove it again to pull that damn pin out

I always forget to install the plate. It is a PITA to put it in when the flywheel is already bolted in.

Yeah, I forgot it and was pissed that I had to remount the clutch. Fortunately I hadn't torqued the flywheel bolts first, and just hand tightened them. I was going so fast trying to accomplish everything in one day. :o

Yeah, if you had the plate I'd say it's just your imagination. Mine was running without on my old engine (that's why I have a new one), but everything looked OK when I pulled it apart.

LOL, I had to do that. PITA indeed.

If you don't use the plate you have to be very very careful with the clutch choice! That plate is more than just a dust shield. it adds very critical clearance to the clutch assembly. Trust me, I have a p11. I tried not using the plate and the clutch pp hit the trans bell housing and caused a knocking noise!

Always use the spacer!
