Jp's stock ve hit I wanna say 560+whp before it finally lifted the head on the stock headbolts. His motor was bone stock. He also used water/meth. You can make the same numbers on race fuel or e85 for sure. Its all in the tuning and having a very efficient turbo setup.

Your motor if tuned properly should be able to make 400-450whp with no issues and last years of abuse. Tune tune tune, You have the efficiency part taken care of.

Seem's like a good set up! Would love to see where this goes. Glad to see a stock bottom and top end ve-t.

I know its been a while but just wanted to update and get some input from you guys...
1) the inevitable happened shredded third gear b14 box, so we took our time and located a p11 box..now i have been doing some research to see what a safe limit is on this box, please chime in and let me know cause i am still unclear..would sure hate to break it.
2) The crank pulley was not holding the timing marks...meaning the outer ring was turning on the inner section....no biggie we upgraded to a gspec v2 pulley.
3) At this point we were seeing boost up to 14lbs the car was really quick and making power all the way to 8k...tires were breaking loose at the top of 4th, it must have been making atleast 420 or so even with the boost falling back to 10-11 lbs at redline. We need a boost controller still running off the wastegate. Then it lost power we did a comp check #3 cylinder had very low compression..yah cracked ring lands.

So here are the plans
High comp 12.5 + boost +e-85...this is not our daily so not too worried about availability
ARP headstuds
Ve-t metal headgasket
Det rods.... i have also been researching the limits of the stock det rods have yet to see anyone break them, but plesase chime in an let me know..i have them sitting in the garage and since we are not shooting for high power we think they would be suitable.
ACL race bearings ( rod)
So that is where we are right now please let us know what you think...i know some people wil say just go ahead and upgrade the rods, and i know there are advantages but this is still a budget build...thanks

Sorry to hear about your tranny and motor mishap. I too want to know about the det rods in a VE motor I have a set from my avenir sitting here collecting dust not sure if they are better than the ve rods hopefully somebody will chime in soon.

Well I did a side by side comparison and the det rods are definitely beefier than ve rods..

ve rods are the same as de rods. The only issue with det rods is the weight gtir rods weigh 732 grams each.

The det rods i have are from a bluebird motor...we will probably be pushing them to 500hp..do you think thats a safe number...that being said i know its torque that will break rods.
