The det rods i have are from a bluebird motor...we will probably be pushing them to 500hp..do you think thats a safe number...that being said i know its torque that will break rods.[/QUOTE]

those would be the 78e version of the det rods. I would upgrade the rod bolts. stock dets will handle 500whp. Tuning is the key to keep a high hp setup from going boom. Make sure to have the rods balanced and measured before you assemble.

Just a little update we got our pistons and sleeves in...we will be sending the block out to get the sleeves installed soon. We also decided to go with manley rods over the stock det rods.

So the car is up and running, 500 miles on the new setup so far. The motor runs and sounds pretty healthy but we are having an issue, whenever the cams activate the car bogs and does not rev. This happens when just revving and under load not sure what's going on there...it reminds me of the issue we were having with our first turbo setup we had with the log manifold and it would choke the engine...its hard to think this t4 is doing the same thing. Hopefully its just a matter of tuning. Please let me know if anyone has had this issue especially those running high comp pistons.
New setup:
12.5 cp pistons
Manley rods
E-85 switch
ACL rod and main bearings
