Rockwood makes a very good point with the 70A. Not that expensive. Should work good with a phantom grip for a street car. Watch guys start ravaging that supply, lol.

Just last night I was thinking about the '04 convention and wondered if you old CA guys were still messing with sr20s. Good to see some old names posting.

What's up Frank! I suppose it is.

You going to come out of hiding for any of the MPTCCCCCCC races next year?

My experience with the phantom grip is that they live a short life. I haven't had one last more than a year or two in other vehicles.

The nismo LSD is a nice unit, but less suited for a street car. They tend to pop in low speed tight corners, like parking and such. Only experienced one car that was baller enough to have one installed though.

I usually shim the springs as much as possible for the phantom grip units.

NISMO diff needs clutch pack friction modifier to prevent hopping at parking lot speeds.

Hey Steve,

Nice article. I realize this thread is a little old. I actually picked up a 02 P11 LSD trans awhile back with a 3rd gear issue I need to get fixed. Then I got a B15 FD to swap into it. I *Thought* I fixed the 3rd gear issue (not wanting to go into 3rd, and slipping out of 3rd now and then), but while the trans was in the car, the gearing matched with my SR20VE was GREAT!!

I look forward to your next article, and maybe catching you, some of the other old timers and the Project G20 at a track even in SoCal sometime?
