I can make this happen if need be... although I recommend the F402 so you can hover over curbs instead of hopping them...

All kidding aside,

I've long been an advocate of the P11 transmission. You helped me assemble/disaasemble and cryo in George's garage back in 2000-who-gives a fuck-way-before now-ago...lol

Much like many other "old timers" I chose not to get involved in argument threads that go against the "old ways" or common sense and engineering with no scientific or emperical evidence to back it up other than "it works for me ALL the time" or "this one guy I know or the cool kids on the magazine have one and its on YouTube"-type arguments...between that and all the self-declared experts that arent trained mechanics, educated/licensed engineers or carry any other credentials other than being "enthusiasts" or "racers" calling people like Kojima idiots or disputing things that have been proven time and time again makes me want to burn my SR powered car to the ground and never look back. But its not the car's fault. I blame their parents, the continuous degradation of society's "standards" (term used loosely) and video games...

Keep doin what your doin man...a well documented experiment/project is never a failure nor can it lead to "misinformation"

but when youre ready to stop playing around let me know- I can get you bolted up to a transmission for a CH-53 rated at 15,000+ shp, fair warning though, the shifts will be a little notchy.

What spark plugs do you recommend for the F402?

that's part of a technical data package I'll disclose when you buy it. Gotta pay to play.

Ashton- I like you without knowing you but you do just keep on going when it is obvious the people you are trying to convince don't give a rats ass what you think. A simple, nice article Steve, if it were me I would have probably gone with a six speed if it were my car and btw have you tried the Valvoline oil yet would have sufficied. Once he responded you just keep going and going and going. His drag/ track day car trapped somewhere around low 140's probably almost 10 years ago now and no six speed, no gutted interior, no aem, no ve head and no gigantic turbo. This is not to take away from what you are doing and what you keep doing but for christ sake just leave well enough alone. His car also went for years dragging and hot lapping, yours went for a weekend, once again not taking anything away from you because that is what happens when you press the limits but again leave well enough alone. I know you may not mean what you come across as but there is a reason why people keep giving you are hard time. It sounds like you are coming across as a know it all when I know that isn't what you mean but it sure as hell sounds like it. Please just do that kind of stuff in your threads or in discussion threads. This was a thread that was about an article that Steve wrote and somehow you brought it to a discussion relating to your car and or your experiences. I appreciate your experiences most of the time but sometimes you just go overboard. I mean no harm or ill will when I say this but I say this so you don't keep getting the same comments over and over again because you say you will lay back but you just keep doing it. I am not sure that you know it but I am not sure how you don't know it. This is the first time I am saying this but I have been biting my tongue for years and ignoring the repetative posts and relating everything to your experiences. You have some very useful info but you also can aggrivate many people, some of which have been doing this for longer than you have been driving. All you have to do is say point taken and step away. I hope that you don't take this the wrong way and stop posting but post with more discretion. Good day to you and your family.

That transmission looks absolutely gorgeous! I would hesitate to even pour oil in it! Amazing work. It is good to hear the transmission has at least lasted longer than 3 laps lol. With the time and money invested in keeping this thing together, I hope it works out. I really like the whole install job and how clean you kept it. Sometimes I wish I would have spent the time...

Enjoy the transmission Steve, and give some hondas some hell on the track.

I've read that the Shockproof leaves behind a residue. Rockwood have you had any experience with this? Any internal issues at all while using shockproof heavy?

Also I've read something about WPC being able to be used on the case itself. Is this true? If it is would WPC treatment make the case stronger?

That's primarily Martin's doing. I'm the engineering guy, and spend a lot of time making stuff right, but Martin is the one that spends the time making sure shit looks clean. Our powers combined bring you Project G20.

That being said, my plan is to re-do my SE-R with a smaller turbo and make it a fun "honey, I'm going to the grocery store" car as well as clean up some of my "wiring" and "plumbing" from back in the day that featured Radio Shack connectors and hose clamps. For now, it just sits under a cover in my garage (still clean though!), sadly waiting for me to re-register it (smog trouble in CA is mainly what keeps it sidelined). Big power is cool, but man is it impractical. I'll probably just rock a GTX2860R or GT2860RS and, GASP!, a P11 box.

I have noticed a slight pink residue that stays on the gears, but it cleans easily if you want to. I also knew a guy that used Redline Heavy Shockproof in his car, cracked the case pretty badly near the diff, then drove for quite some time before he figured it out. He figured it out when he went back to a friend's house (he hadn't been there for weeks) and saw a big puddle of Pepto Bismol on the ground.

You can probably convince WPC to treat the case if you waived enough cash in front of them, and it will improve the strength of the case. That being said, as a general rule, unless your company starts with "Cos" and ends in "worth" or some other major WRC-like effort, you probably won't convince them.

There has been some negative feedback, but I think it's a cool article. Especially for guys who will want to track a turbo G20/B Car. How much $$$ for the shot peening, WPC, and Cryo, rebuild parts for the transmission? I'd just like to get an idea of what it takes to prep a 70A/V tranny like you guys did.

A duplicate trans, minus the NISMO diff, would be in the $1000-1200 ballpark including the used box. If you're starting completely fresh, the 51H starts to make more sense (as you'll need to spend ~$700 on a clutch/flywheel combo anyway) as its ~$2k vs. ~$3-3.5k, and the helical unit is better than the VLSD or Phantom Grip units.

For my street car, I'll probably run a 70A with a Phantom Grip in it. Works better than the box o' snot VLSD diff (especially when warm) and is easier to find.
