Thread: DE Capability on Boost

I have a real quick question & i am pretty sure i know the answer but i always like to see other opinions. I have a DE+T with a GTi-R T28 & last time i check the compression on each of my cylinders it was at 180psi. Well how much Boost can it really hold, i have been told 10psi which is what its currently at, but can it hold 11psi or made even 12psi????

uhhhhh........ yes, if you have the afm & fuel to do it.

If you have the fuel and tuning you can go to 18-20 psi.

if i could slap people in the face with a cold, wet fish every time this question is asked, i would. With proper tuning, fuel pump, and injectors, 20 psi is completley fine on a bone stock de. only question you kids need to concern yourself with is tuning.....99% of you will never excede the power potential of the sr20de stock block. especially with a t28.

answer to question is yes it will hold 12psi

and yes, my 18g is on 18 psi on my stock b14 motor. and to the above......if hes asking questions like the above, a massive turbo setup is the last thing thats going to happen in this equation.

people seem to equate cyl pressure due to boost from a turbo to power output. "how much boost you running" is always the question people ask when they realize my car is turbocharged. NOT what size turbo are you running. While this is important information, i dont think adding variables helps these folks. for his setup, really, for ANY t2 flanged turbo, its fair enough to say 18psi is safe. within reason, with proper tuning. motor can support 400+ hp easily. detonation kills these things, thats about it. I think that about covers the basics.
