Thread: PPG straight cut Gearset or 6speed swap

Which would u rather have, or do? Not sure of the cost of a 6speed so I can't say which is cheaper. I know a combination of the two would be ideal for the ballers

What power range are you going for? Ashton did wonders with his 6 Speed at a trap speed at 149mph and no transmission issues. I heard of ppl breaking PPG Gears

400whp ish, I will probably end up going 6speed but sc gears sound sweet, and I'm still just window shopping lol both upgrades cost $$$

I would let the stock trans be for now and just get the case welded also, if you dont have already, use the all metal dog bone mount for the front.

do the 6speed swap... all cash spent on reinforcing the b13 trans can be put towards the specv swap... so do 85w-140 gear oil in the b13 while you save for the specv upgrade.

Yeah, 6 speed FTW no questions asked. Havent had a single problem with mine yet. 700+ hp 149+ traps, 1.61 60ft's, several blasts to the end of 5th gear.

If you want to make your b13 trans last as long as it can, Valvoline 85w140 either conventional or durablend. You will notice a huge difference in how it feels, shifts smoother, and just overall protects the gears night and day.

The 6 speed is nice especially if you drive the car alot on the street or use it for daily driving. Cant beat it.

Well I have a 99 p11 trans, which iirc is the same as a b14 trans, and I do have the 85w-140 ready to go, hopefull I can get that trans to hold for a while

Chris the 6 speed swap is cheaper than a ppg gear stack. If I ever upgrade from the p11 tranny that's where my money will go.
