Can I tap these holes on the manifold?
I am trying to get an exhaust source to flow into my EGR valve for inspection purposes. Does anyone know if these three nubs with holes right next to the flange on the manifold can be drilled and tapped so I can get a tube on there? What purpose do those things serve anyway?

Picture is borrowed from a classifieds thread btw..

iirc they are heat shield bolt holes

put the egr probe in the center of the manifold so you arent just getting the reading from one runner

Are you talking EGT?

Isn't the stock EGR spot on runner 4?

Fullah, I see no problem drilling through the heatshield mount hole to run it.

EDIT: Thought you were talking about EGT.

For EGR I would get it after the turbo, before turbo "leaks" can cause lag.

Or you could have a muffler shop weld a bung on the downpipe then run a coolant hose to down there. I bought a 96' 200SX and already had it like that and it ran code free on the ECU, no check engine ligth or anything.

Thanks for the responses guys.

The issue I am having with running it after the turbo is due to materials to make a new pipe to go into the EGR. From what I understand the EGR tube is brass. I am having trouble finding tubing small enough (I think the EGR tube is about 1/2" diamater) that is bendable that I can route to the EGR valve.

Right now I am thinking of using copper tubing because from what I understand, I can bond copper and brass. If I can't braze/solder it, I was going to try and use a compression fitting.

I recall being told to use coolant hose but I am scared to be honest. I don't want to chance using coolant hose and burn my car down ...This would probably work because I already have a bung welded downstream for my wideband. I can always temporarily remove the wideband and put a fitting in there to run the exhaust flow but wouldn't I something more sturdy than coolant hose?

Honestly I couldn't care less about EGR from a gas mileage stand point-I just need it functioning so I can do my inspection..

Well not nesesarily coolant hose but something like the oil drain coming from the turbo can withstand turbo temperatures. Search around for hi temp oil hose.
