JE det pistons in a ve-t
I was reading an article on motoiq an mike talks about using the new JE pistons that have this new asymmetrical pistons, and i noticed they had valve notches.

Building the Long Rod Nissan SR20VE Engine

so i was looking around and found JE pistons on the BC website an they talk about how the pistons have notches designed to clear their cams and they offer a free asymmetrical piston upgrade

BrianCrower.com | RunBC.com // Nissan // SR20DET

so would these "de/det" pistons clear VE valves if i were to upgrade cams? and would the compression still be 8.5 or would it go up cause of the smaller cc?

theres also this combo which is fairly reasonably priced

JE Pistons Manley Rods Nissan 240sx SR20det SR20 2.0L | eBay

here's a combo with the newer designed pistons

You should be just fine if they have valve reliefs. N1's will almost clear normal de/det pistons. If they have reliefs then there is no need to worry.

Also compression is calculated for a de/det motor. So add .7-.8 to the compression ratio ie: 8.5:1 would be 9.2-9.3:1 in a ve.

thats exactly what i was looking for! see this would help keep the compression up slightly compared to the CP 9.0:1 pistons, and i like the new skirt design to help reduce side friction.
