Off a gti-r, need opinions
First of all let me say I dont know anything about turbo stuff, an acquaintance of mine has a gti-r set of:
manifold
top mount intercooler
o2 housing with sensor
blowoff valve

all oem from a gti-r. What is a good price on that stuff to pay and a reasonable price to sell it at? I'm a student so I dont have the money to just 'have' that stuff, but if I could turn a quick bit of cash, it would help with tuition.

Thoughts?

you've basically got nothing. Take the first offer. My guess is you can get near $100 for the manifold and O2 housing but these things are common as fence posts. The other stuff $25 for the recirc valve. I've never seen anyoune use the IC for anything really. take the first offer and save some time.

Thats about what he was selling them to me for, so I won't bother then. Thanks for the quick reply!

Manifold = $100 shipped
O2 Housing = $40 shipped
Stock BOV = $30 shipped
Top mount = probably around $50 tops

Yup! T28 will cost you $60 in parts to rebuild, not too hard if you mark the comp wheel properly!

He said the bearing and shaft are blown - is that repairable in the rebuild kit (forgive my ignorance, I've never had a turbo before)

if the turbine shaft is toast the turbo is garbage. Sell it to someone needing a new compressor or turbine housing. You might get 100 bucks for it from the right buyer if they needed parts for a rebuild. Not many people waste time with them though.

The appeal to a t28 turbo kit off the R is that it's cheap as hell, makes decent power, and is all figured out for you. however there are much better options for newer turbo's these days if you are going to bother to spend money on rebuilds etc.

Well this is exactly his response: "shaft play and bearing are gone"

not able to be rebuilt then?

You should be able to rebuild the turbo
