ve-t trouble
Hey guys i need some help figuring out whats going on with this car...the setup is
Stock ve motor with sr16 cams
turbonetics t3 turbo with a .48 exhaust
Log mani with 2.5 down pipe
Stand alone stinger 4424
The thing is when the cams switch the car just boggs and wont rev any higher....we moved the switch points and it keeps happening...boost is set at only 5.5 lbs anyone ever had this prob....

SR16+with that small turbo+log= Not very good.

Drop in at least some stock 2L cams. With the SR16 cams you will need a very efficient setup which yours is not.

Try getting a bigger turbo also, that T3 with a .48 back does not work well with a VE, more suited for like a GA16 motor.

I agree with the log on a VE motor not being great but it should just bog, have you tried going through the whole rpm range with no vvl? how does it do?
when engaging vvl what do you mean by bog? it is rough but goes all the way through rpm range?

does it just die out when it engages like the rpm is bouncy and wont go up?

It revs ok until the vvl is engaged...we tried multiple points...the rpm just bounces and does not climb at any of those points of engagement.

Unplug your exhaust cam solenoid the square black one. Leave the intake cam plugged in. It should take the bog away, from there make your decision on your next move.

What does your afr do and your timing do when it bogs.

i dont have a ve but my car did similar would only build 5 psi bog and my ewg would make a bunch of noise turned out to be the distributor. it would rev to 7500 light throttle but when i put my foot down it would only go to like 4k and bog/sputter

The afr goes rich off the chart when it happens not sure about the timing...as far as next move you mean going with a bigger turbo?
