Dj/Halloween style fog machine for boost leak test?
I made a pressure tester with a PVC endcap and a wheel valve stem. I'm thinking to encorporate a smoke machine to assit in finding any boost leaks. A professional machine I googled upwards of $1k, a smoke machine can be obtained for a mere $30 or so.

Has anyone ever done this? Is it effective, meaning is the smoke thick enough to serve the purpose I'm speaking of?

I use a spray bottle filled with soapy water, but a smoke machine would kick ass.

Just like the emissions testers in the shop. Works great long as the smoke is thick enough. Like cigar smoke.

Those expensive ones use a mineral oil that vaporizes into a smoke that won't harm your engine or EVAP system. I dunno what a fog machine would do...?

I too use the soapy water technique. One leak took me over an hour to locate as it was in a most difficult spot to view. Smoke definitely would kick ass!!!

Exactly. I'll have to in investigate further and see just how the fog is created from one of these novelty machines...if I can intensify the output.

Unless someone posts with this experience I shall keep y'all posted with my potential creation.

Hmm, $30 shipped via Amazon Prime.
Amazon.com: Eliminator Lighting Fog Machines EF-400 Fog Machine: Musical Instruments

Seems almost too cheap to not buy one and cobble something together using it with an air compressor.

Check out this video, there are LOTS of things you can do with a smoke tester.

I'm fairly certain they are a simple water based solution. I'm personally not concerned. With a rip down the road, any condensation with be evacuated. And as far as an evap, on my car....non exsistant :-)

We have that smoke pro at my school and it honestly is the shit. I used it to eliminate all my boost/vacuum leaks. My buddy used it to find where his trunk was leaking by filling the entire trunk with smoke lol. Its a pretty sweet little tool.
