Thread: How much is a super sentra?

A lot of us have come to the point where we've moved on. Projects are sold, or parted out. But what are these projects really worth, and what is a reasonable asking price?

I have been toying with the idea of selling the sentra, or parting it out. I would rather she find a good home. A place she could be taken care of, appreciated.

I could make a ton of money back by parting it out. The 6-speed swap, wheels, tires, brakes, suspension parts, new turbo etc.

I have to make this car perfect before I sell it, or as nice as possible. I have other projects that I have to take on, and it makes me sad to think of selling. But sooner or later, the time comes to move on.

What do you guys think? Sell for 5k? 7k? What would be a good asking price?

^ you can ask whatever you like and then it all depends on what someone is willing to pay.

Someone once told me a 'rule of thumb' (which I don't totally believe btw) is 1/2 of what you have into it is a 'fair' market value. I call BS on this statement because while this is probably true for many cars, I doubt it applies to custom SE-Rs which are so hard to find clean in the 1st place these days!



I'd be as comprehensive as possible showing your investment dollars vs. actual asking price and that might get the best interest.


It is sad but true though how you will get more parting it out then selling as a whole. I learned this the hard way with a miata that no one would touch with many mods for $5000 but then after selling off the mods, going back to 100% stock I still sold the miata for $4500 (and got $2800 for the aftermarket goodies I sold off btw) so it is unfortunately how it tends to be. I did, however, get lucky when selling my 1990 spec miata as a spec miata for $9000 (not exactly something you can part back to stock once you've caged a car like that though...haha)

Of course, I would have a fresh built head. The car would be ready to roll. I may lower the rev limit to 8500rpm and everything would stay intact.

Thats true man. I could make at least 10k parting it out. At least, then I could sell the shell off for cheap. I just don't think I could bear to see this car taken apart.

to most people, a car is plastic. But this car means much more to me than that.

^ yup, part out would yield top dollar for sure... just a matter of what you want to do (take it apart or sell it whole?)

It's ironic because we are in the process of finally finishing a race car b13 se-R project ourselves and already know we'll never get out of it what we put into it but will only sell it whole (will not be parting it out)

Dibs on the manifold and turbo lol. I think $7k is a fair starting point.

I still have a bit of student loans to pay off. So I think 8K is a good price. The car books at 3800 I think. Given it has new cams, turbo etc. It wouldn't be cheap to buy. But then again, anyone who can afford maintenance on a 500whp car could probably afford the initial buy-in. The chassis only has 103k miles.

^ If $8000 is your bottom line, then I'd start at $9500 and go down from there clearly pointing out how you could get $10k parting it out!
