ACL Bearings
Hey ive been looking to purchase my bearings for my build, i ran across the calico coated bearing; im planning on running 400whp give or take so im wondering if its worth paying the few extra bucks and getting them coated or just standard acl bearings. pro and cons. go

Meh. Get regular bearings. Coated or not, you'll probably be tearing into them again in a couple years. You'd be hard pressed to spin a bearing or have issues with any option you choose.

that being said, your ACL are softer and can take debris a lot better. I've had coated bearings, ACL, and standard Clevite. Can't really go wrong with any of them.

The ACL do have more oiling holes in them, so if you do circuit racing... its the obvious choice.

ACL and just get the standards. Dont bother with the Calico Coated ones.

Yep, ive always ran the standards and have yet to ever have a problem. My old built motor has 16k miles of torture on it and the bearings still look brand spankin new. However I was running a Ve oil pump and 15w-50 Mobil 1 oil and mobil 1 filter as well.
