Im running a spec stg 3+. It is rated for 485tq, but it can't hold up. I don't even have 5k miles on this clutch. Luckily I won't be running on high boost often.

I ended up moving the cam swap point to 6000rpm to see how the motor would react. Driving around at partial throttle with the cam switching would cause some instability in output. You would feel the cam switch and it wasn't very smooth under part throttle.

With the cam switch at 6k though, the engine runs smoother at partial throttle through the rev range. At 6k, it's like the car got rear ended by a train! It's gotta be an easy 120whp increase by 6k when the cams kick. You feel the engine pull you back, thinking "Ok this feels great!", then the cams switch and you think "OH ShiT!!!"

hahaha nice man!

i notice my stock cams do something similar, i have them set to activate at 4900, at wot it feels good an you barely hear the kick over but the rate at which the rpms go up increases. Under part throttle you hear them change over more clearly and there's an increase in power but its not super smooth.

i think im going to shoot for some vet cams or something when i can afford it, what would you recommend for my setup coheed?

If you can feel the increase of power when the cams switch, then you are in good shape. VET cams should only really be used if you are experiencing loss of power on the cam switch. I only experienced loss of power on my Protech Log. The VET cams worked wonders for me on my log setup.

Once you can actually take advantage of the higher duration cams, going to VET cams will likely be a step backwards. They do work really well though. I really feel like the log manifold setup I had was great. It made great power for a log manifold on that GT30R turbo. It didn't have the response of the twinscroll setup, but it was simple and reliable.

Yeah I find my self hitting the 7500 rev limiter often. she pulls like a train then wham rev cut it def revs a lot quicker then it did n/a that's for damn sure. But then again I was used to n1 cams and revving to 8k+

I really don't see why guys are so afraid of boosting a stock ve, so far I've had great luck an no problems at all. I have all sorts of fun too.. I'm only running 8psi for now an pretty conservative timing/fueling. All hell doesn't break loose like yours does tho, yet anyways

This is what I expected out of a VE-T, and honestly is one of the main reasons (besides better gas mileage) that I went with VE-T myself. Unfortunately the gas mileage is still bad and the cam activation only yields 20whp more so no big kick. This was on 20VE cams and GTiR manifold

Now I'm running VET cams, power increased, but torque decreased (smaller lobes). Cam activation is still too seamless. This could be because I activate my cams when the high lobes start making more power then low lobes, thus making a very smooth transaction.

Yup because I got a VET manifold. But I might be going to no VE at all

wouldn't the vet cams an manifold make a good pair on a ve though? is the vet manifold better then the gtir manifold?
