I'm trying to source a VE head since I need to do the head gasket, what is everyone thoughts on Avenir W10 ECU with VE head (VE or DET injectors) and W10 MAF? I would like to not have to invest in Nemu RIGHT this second if the W10 ECU will get me on the road if I get a VE head

I think I can get away with using the W10 ECU, I'll be using the 370cc injectors and W10 MAF, the only thing I'm worried about is the difference in compression ratio, how that will effect the tune I am not sure.

For the head swap will I need to run a VE oil pump and front cover? I forgot reading somewhere if that was required to keep up necessary oil pressure or if I can get away with running the stock W10 oil pump for now

Anyone know where a thread is regarding VE oil pump on DET block?

So I am pretty sure I have a VE head, oil pump and upper and lower oil pans (so everything should fit) The motor's in the car now and my buddy took his lift back (kind of uncomfortable asking to borrow it again) so I'll probably invest in a lift too, if I can get the motor out of the car it should be a lot easier to put the oil pump in I'm thinking. I'll be sure to take pictures of everything since I couldn't find an actual thread for "Oil Pump Replacement" seems pretty straight forward though, take the crank pulley off, oil pan and baffle, front cover and then I'm hoping the oil pump should unbolt, I'll be doing the head swap right after so the timing chain will be off, what do you guys think about replacing the chain while everything is apart? Worth it? I read somewhere that Ashton said chains last the life of the motor so I'm not sure if it would be worth it.

The only things I think I need now is a Gspec crank pulley and maybe I'll even be able to pull off Nismotronic! A wideband, boost gauge and oil pressure gauge are in order as well I think...

More updates to come!

I know... I'm contemplating just getting the car going DET for now... But then again taking the head off again to swap to the VE is gonna be a pain in the ass...

All the VE stuff (minus the studs, head gasket, oil line, and nissport) is gonna cost $900 shipped... then I'll need nismotronic which is another $543 or whatever... Damnit!

yep i would get the nismotronic now and maybe a bigger turbo, what you got a t25? maybe get a gtir setup... i wouldn't worry about the ve head, you could get some good gains from a bigger turbo and cams.

Ya it's just a stock W10, journal T25, is the GTi-R turbo manifold better flowing than the W10? I don't know if the gti-r t28 would be worth the upgrade, my main goals were VE head, bigger injectors and gt2871rs turbo :/ I don't know what the 2871rs would yield with like S4's, n62 (that is z32 right?) maf and injectors... Maybe I could do that, get a better tranny, clutch and then once I have nismotronic I can do the VE head last... I don't know... If the motor was out of the car I would probably just do the head and oil pump but I'm torn between the two right now...
