How much power/torque have you guys put down on this clutch? What tranny are you using? Ever any problems? Whats the driveability like? How much tq are the fx500 rated for?

I did eventually have an issue with the disk splines stripping out on me. It was determined that it was a manufracturing defect and Comp was more than willing to send me new disks for basicly nothing. But I went with the 6 speed swap and got the larger splined disks to suite.

And it has a good pricetag at about 1200 bucks for the whole setup which includes flywheel and all. Cant go wrong.

Did the disks damage the splines on the shaft on the tranny at all? Sounds like a good deal but I'm kinda skeptical about those disks now that you say that.

One clutch I abuse on several different motors from na to spray to boost for several years before I sold by b14 was the Jwt clutch. Never had any problems but with others I have nothin but problems....

Hmm, I've never heard someone do this. Could you elaborate on this a little?.

I've never really researched too much on the jwt's but from my understanding I don't think they were built to handle high HP/TQ. I may be wrong tho..

No they didnt damage it at all. The gearstacks including input shaft and all bearings were very low mileage ones from a 99 p11. I had all dowels in the block and so on. They at first tried to say it was a problem with the trans but when i sent them back in they said it was definitely a manufacture defect. That was after about 1500 miles of daily driving and one track use and countless local "track" use. There are others running the same clutch without problems so yeah.

Our clutches and whatnot are 205mm I think in diameter? I think the RWD stuff is 215mm or maybe some other setup is a little bigger. I've heard of people trying to use the larger setups. Having a larger flywheel and associated clutch and pressure plate means you can hold more torque the an otherwise identical clutch setup because of the leverage. I've heard there may be grinding of the bellhousing required....
As for the specifics, I'm sorry but I don't have them.

I used a clutch very similar to the FX500. It only slipped in 4th gear on high boost. but i did end up with exploding transmissions.

when you start making good power, it is hard to find something that holds up. Especially around the 400whp+ mark. Our clutches just weren't designed for that, and are very small.

With a dowel conversion you can use the pp from a 4G63 from the older eclipse models. I had a pp built up using a 2400lb diaghram. With a slight pivot adjustment it got tons of clamp. Instead of ceramic material i opted for a semi-metallic puck with a fully caged sprung disc. It worked well, but that diaphram was stiff.

There are two ways to get the proper holding power: increase clamping force, or change the friction coefficient. Sintered iron works well, but it is normally packaged with a solid hub. And the engagement can be obnoxious, jarring, and noisy.
