ok I have a gt2871r .64 ar ...would i need to change the whole cartridge to make it .86ar? or can i just change the exhaust housing to a .86?

you should just be able to swap out the housings, my buddy just recently did it to his bb37, he went from .86 to .64

Yes you should be able to switch the exhaust housing. The only way that you could not is if the turbines are different in the .64 and .86 versions. I am pretty sure precision only changes the compressor wheel and uses the stock garrett turbine.

It should be a matter of simply swapping exhaust housings.
