Thread: Safc II not powering up

I have no motor in the car but the safc II should still power up right? I thought it would be easier to do without the motor in but when i turn the key nothing happens. Car is a 01 Sentra SE.

you can wire it up with no motor in the car as long as everything is connected to the ecu correctly then it should work assuming its a working unit. Did you test it out by touching the red positive and brown and black grounds to battery to make sure it was a working unit? Ive seen several SAFCII's go out. They dont seem to be the most reliable electronic out there. Ive seen more go bad than not.

Your harness should still have power whether the motor is in or out as long as your grounds are connected properly and so on.

All I can say is make sure you have it wired properly

uhhh is the battery in? is it hooked up? where does the safc get power?

No i didnt test it out bought it off of a local forum that im on and the guy said it worked fine in his 240. Didnt know i could test it out first. Was worried about frying it that way. Im not sure how im gonna test it now since its already soldered in the ecu harness

Yes the battery is in the car and hooked up. Safc gets power from the ecu hot wire.

snip the wires an test it, then re-solder em lol

whats ghetto is soldering shit when u don't know if it works..

it not going to hurt it to test it out on the battery for a few seconds.

it always pays off to try things out, test fit things, mock things up before you go tightening the bolts as hard as you can, or soldering wires..
