Seal had one of those for sale ( RS5F50V ), you may want to see if you can fire him a pm, he may still have it

Quiet frankly, I gave this gearbox some thought, and other than the 6 speed, it seems a bit stronger than than the standard P11/B15 box

I think a few other things (like axle and clutch/flywheel) are the issues with using this "maxima" based gearbox.

The 50 series is still not as strong. They used these in the maxima and anyone boosted still blew them up, but they make billet gears for them now. PAR?

I am sure it will do well though, it is suited for more power than the P11 gearbox...

Do you have a pic the the gearbox u speaking about and what whp and torque can it handle before shitting it's self

I would say p10/b13/b14 good to about 300 depending on use, abuse, fluid, clutch etc.
The B15 and P11 70v boxes are good to over 400whp, after that you will probably break them. I broke many.

The 50 series also good to 400whp or so. I should state that hp ratings are pointless, it is really all about the torque. anything more than 400wtq on any gearbox will make relatively short life of it, unfortunately.

So I decided to lower the torque output of the engine, and put in a RS6 transmission from the spec V. It is a very expensive swap, and not for the average guy. But it does have much thicker teeth on the gears, and thicker shafts... but the case is not bullet-proof. Keep that in mind.

If you can get all the parts for a 6 speed swap, it swaps a lot easier into the p11/p10 chassis than the B14 chassis. I'd say the B14 and B13 are the harder swaps to do.

Or just make sure you use a sprung clutch, and LSD P11 gearbox with heavy shockproof gear oil or something else really thick. It should hold up to 400whp for a while, perhaps even a few years....depending on how you drive.

I could run 1,000 WHP through a B13 transmission. Power has fuck-all to do with it.

It is really odd you managed to destroy 3rd gear on an early P11 gearbox with 270 WTQ so quickly. Maybe that dyno was reading way low? Maybe not? Sounds fishy to me though.

^^ Ben I tend to agree. What gearbox oil and clutch setup were you using dwanted??

Coheed, can you tell me the reason why you recommend to run a sprung clutch?? I have seen too many horror stories from running anything sprung and high horsepower (note: rephrase that, high torque, since the torque is what is being transferred through the clutch/flywheel setup and not actual HP)

well it certainly isnt making the power it should. but that may be a good thing. how long do you think a stock ve is going to last while making power well above 3. the ring lands are weak on a stock ve. id figure out whats going on, and then plan to build a bottom end. cause i can gurantee once your making the power it should make it will pop.

i did 400whp @ 18psi on 93 oct on the same turbo, same mani, but internally gated, 3inch dp and ex, built 87mm det with s4's etc etc. shit ran extremely hard.

good luck.

stratton.
