Are we discussing turbo sizing now? (Reading the first post; small frames were off the menu.)

Really dood? I think it is safe to assume you've never driven a high horsepower car?...or maybe you forgot to install the driver mod to your car?

Pure laziness? no...it is called wanting to keep things simple. DE & S4? People still run those setups? I've been there and done that.

"Medium frame"...I want to run the smallest possible turbo that will give me 400-450 whp, efficiently.

Are you leaning one way or the other right now? Precision? Garrett? Maybe one of the other brands? Maybe one the main manufacturers with aftermarket housing(s)?

My next turbo build will be a variable geometry turbo (single moving part version). That way I can get huge power with insane spool, great boost control, and not have all the BS of dealing with wastegate plumbing and cost. Also, I may go with a built-in recirculation valve to eliminate the BOV stuff too. I'm not sure yet.

If you're not running water lines to keep things simple, right now the ultimate in simplicity is a variable geometry turbo from Cummins/Holset in my opinion. Unless you want to give one of those silly Aerochargers a try. No oil lines for them.

any love for EFR's? as simple as a 2871 without the creep.

I would be cross-shopping BW's EFR options for sure. The three big hitters all have 3rd generation options out.

Meh..350whp on a FWD is pushing the platform of a FWD car. I have no desire to take my car higher than it already is due to traction issues with the FWD platform. Unless it's a drag car or you run slicks on the street, 350whp+ isn't very streetable IMO. You just can't put the power down in 1st - 3rd driver mod or not. You can't beat physics! When accelerating, weight wants to be pushed back to the rear of the car.

A set of 225 drag radials will make a world of difference. I daily drove my car with about 430whp without issues, Yes it spins the crap out of the tires 1st-3rd with regular street tires but still pulls like a madman in the process and will take out pretty much anything. Plus most of the time I have some fun with it it is always from a roll anyways.

Anything more than about 450whp begins to be kinda pointless as now its 1st-4th your blowing away on 205 street tires. Drag radials would greatly help but they wear too fast for a daily driver which is the reason I never used any.

i mostly lurk here because my platform is rear drive (sr miata) but i have to say, how come you guys get the best stuff (cheap vtec) and det's are expensive and utter crap in comparison. life is not fair

hey, i was wondering if you can use an autox trick and increase droop on the front to gain traction? essentially rebound on the fronts super soft on struts with as much travel as you can find.

Most of the time you can play with the pedal and get the car to pull even while spinning.
