Sorry... I was having a brain fart... As long as the price is right, go ahead and get a turbo with a water jacket. No big deal. You can run them without water and it will not affect the longevity of the turbo. So you just ignore if it has a water jacket or not and buy the turbo you'd like based on flow and configuration.

Yeah you dont have to run the coolant lines. Just do proper cooldown before shutting the car off and it wont even matter.

The same as what you have to do with the oil-only turbos. No difference.

Manny, I didn't see where you stated you already have a Protech manifold? Bruce and Mike closed the website down. If you call them and have money ready for them, they may make a manifold up. I think Rob and I were a few of the last folks to get a piece from them...

The new precision turbos are not like the turbos you ran back in the day. They actually spool quick for the size. You can get a journal bearing 6262 for $900 brand new and you can get a BB 6262 for around the same price as a 3071R and they are air-cooled ( no water lines). The journal bearing 6262 turbo spools just as good as the BB from my personal experience and will out perform the 3071R by far. Why get a turbo that will be almost maxxed out at 400hp when you can get one that will be relaxed with less heat soak. Then later if you get the itch you can crank it up and hit 600hp with ease.

If stock motors last longer than built motors why do we even bother to build them.
Build your motor right and you won't have any problems. Keep it as simple as you can. From what you have listed, you are on the right track. You don't even need the N1 manifold and TB but if you already have it, you can use it.

Kev, thanks for the input. It seems Precision has upped the bar for the best turbos year after year. Thus why I looking more into PTE 5857 w/ .63 back. The turbo is good for 600 HP (more than I'll ever want).

i agree with Miko 100% in favor of the gt2871. Only because i think if you make anything over 350hp for street driving is useless(no traction). I dont care what tires you have what tranny you have 350hp is a good deal of power and you cant forget what kind of torque you 'll be producing as well. As far as not wanting to run cooant lines i think that is pure laziness.. just use the throttle body coolant lines which already have a feed and return. You'll will get 350hp easy on low boost if you run s4 cams with a stock De and a GT2871 and a good tune which is good for a 11sec timesheet.
