if your going to use a GT3071 i would recommend using the T3 version because it has a bigger turbine
60mm trim T3 external gate would be the 3071 version i would be using

Get a SR20VET and put a GT2871R on it. This setup will make 400-420 WHP at 17-18PSI.

SR20VET = $3500
GT2871R bolts onto SR20VET exhaust manifold = $1300
Top Feed 570cc or 740cc injs = $400

Total = $5200

Sell SR20VET ballbearing turbo = $500
Sell SR20VET 444cc injs = $200

Total = $4500

Your setup for 430-450 WHP at 20 PSI

SR20VE motor = $1000
N1 Manifold & TB = $600
740cc Nismo Injs = $600
Aftermarket Rods/Pistons (9.5:1 comp) = $900
Bearings = $180
Protech EQL = $600-$900
GT3071R = $1200
headgasket and rebuild parts = $120
Headstuds = $200
Pay someone to build it $600-$800

Total = $6000 to $6500

This is what the DET does with a GT2871R

SR20DET, S4 cams, 3inch DP, 3 inch exhaust with GT2871R makes 400-420 WHP at 20 PSI.

The SR20VET will be about 30-40 WHP more efficent. at 20 PSI

Why are 740cc injectors cheaper with the VET setup ($400) versus the VE+T setup ($600)? hahaha

SR20VE = $1,000
N1 Manifold & TB = $0 (already have it - I bought it from you 6 years ago)
Nismo/Tomei 740cc = $600
Tial 44mm = $350
Aftermarket Rods/Pistons (9.5:1 comp) = $900
Bearings = $180
Protech EQL = $600-$900
Precision 5857 = $900
headgasket and rebuild parts = $0 (already have it)
Headstuds = $0 (already have it)
Pay someone to build it: $100 (beer, food, & good times with friends)

Total = $4,630-$4,930

This brings it on par or close to a VET motor. That is not to mention that I am not interested in reusing the VET manifold - I'd still be interested in going with a Pro-Tech, so that ups the price on the VET over the build.

Dre, you're my boy, but it is one thing to piece meal a setup together over time versus coughing up a lump sum of cash for a $3,500.

So you prefer the 2871R over the 3071R?

Injectors are cheaper because they are topfeed vs sidefeed.

As for turbo selection there are soo many ways you can go all dependant on how much power you want down low and how much power you want up high.

A 6262 is probably overkill for what your going for although it will still spool up very quick. You could always get the BB version as well to help with that.

The 5857 billet is a great choice I think for what your wanting to make. Will be cheaper than a GT series garrett turbo, will be rebuildable if something ever happens to it. Will spool just as quick as the 3071 will and again you always have the option of the Dual BB version of the precision to give you that even quicker spool time.

While the Garrett GT turbos are nice they are outdated and being outperformed which is why they came out with their GTX series to stay up with the competition but again with that your paying hefty price tag for them. In my opinion not worth it.

PTE is offering Billet wheel T2 turbos now as well ....the 6262 is nice but it is big

Manny as long as you are going for 400 WHP there is no turbo that is better in my opinion than the GT2871R. Lance's Red SER made 350 WHP at 15 PSI and ran 12.0 @ 115 MPH. He had a DET on stock cams with a GT2871R. Lances car at 20 PSI and some S4 cams would have run 11.2-11.4 at 125 MPH. Thats an impressive time with no turbo lag.

As far as piecing a SR20VE-T together vs buying a SR20VET complete, it does not matter how it happens at the end of the day the costs are way more going your way. The numbers dont lie.

Also if you sell the N1 Manifold for $600 thats alot of money back in your pocket.

Considering what Manny's car already has on it as far as mods are concerned with a few sales his turbo build will be very cost effective. Not to mention the ability to build a motor that will take anything he throws at it.

I guess I am biased as I am a fan of built motors.

It is still more cost effective to go with a SR20VET, considering what his car has on it. The prices are still the same he just has more parts to sell to build a motor,

I see more built motors break on this forum than I see stock motors break, that being NA or Turbo. Those are facts.

SR20VET is a complete diffrent animal to any other SR20 turbo motor.

A SR20VET has bigger and stronger rods than a GTIR. It has forged pistons. It comes with a girdle. If Manny is going for 450 WHP then that is nothing for a VET. DETs take 400 WHP no problem and GTIRs take 500 WHP no problem.

At the end of the day Manny will go where his heart is, which most likely will be building a motor.

Supposedly the gtx2867R is out and it appears to flow better than the gt2871r. ATP has wheel upgrades for $300.
