B15 won't go into 2nd gear! Help
I have a 92 Sentra with a sr20de+t, and a few months ago I bought a b15 lsd tranny. Finally got around to bolting it up, and ground off the area that needed to be ground on the shifter stabilizer, and I can't get it into gear! I checked clearance, and it seemed to be clearing fine. All other gears go in fine. I don't think it's a synchro because I can't get it to go in at all, I can sit there and have it grind and it won't engage. When the car was jacked up, I got it in 2nd gear with the wheels off, and the axles spun, but when the car is down, I've had no luck. Any ideas??

On the stabilizer I cut off the bottom half of the mount because it was binding up, as well as took a bit off the actual stabilizer bar...everything looked clear to me.

What about the rear motor mount? I'm hoping it's not something with the actual tranny internals!

What mounts do you have? I know sometimes if the mount is sagging/cracked, it could be an issue with gears not going in smoothly or at all. My brothers b&m shifter made his trans feel funny when shifting into different gears. Hopefully its something minor.

Is yours a B13 or B14? I know we had to pry the hell out of the stabilizer bar to give just barely enough clearance for the shifter to move around. That along with some grinding that you already did.

I have the original mounts in there still...could be that possibly. Secondly I do have a b&m short throw shifter. Mine is a B13, but the shifter seems to have plenty of room to move around after the grinding ( I did more than was suggested on the thread for the b15/p11 install, but that might have been needed because of a saggy mount?)

It could possibly be the mounts. The B13 mounts are old as hell and tend to give a lot of free play. I would personally go with a set of prothanes. Did you have someone run the shifter through the gears while you looked under to see if there was any clearance issues?

I am going to say you might have to pry the stabilizer bar a little towards the passenger side of the car. Try and use something else besides the area where the shifter linkage connects to the trans to pry the stabilizer. You don't wanna risk bending/breaking that and causing more issues for yourself.

Yeah, I will definitely look into the mounts, and have a look at mine. I got under there while my buddy ran them through (all felt like they were going in, and looked good) and he was under then when I ran them through as well. There is a bit of free play where the stabilizer and or linkage will tend to twist a bit, but no major conflict with each other at all. I may try prying it as well. Thanks for the ideas, I appreciate it! Any other input from you or other members would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Let us know how you make out. I would check and make sure you have all 3 screws in the rear mount that bolt to the trans and that they are tight.
