i was on youtube looking thru the videos and found one of a guy porting the the internal wastegate opening & the turbo exhaust housing .

looks awsome but i know nothing bout turbos lol .

has anyone here on the forum done this on there turbos .

I've attempted it before on the wastegate port side. It ended up taking so long to make any progress with the Dremel and grinding tool I gave up without making any real progress.

oh ok looks good . tho . i have an extra exhaust housing i plan on trying this out .

Done a lot in Evo world on stock frame turbos

can you notice a difference in the drive before and after the porting & polishing .

I tried using a dremel for widening and cleaning up casting marks, it's not powerful enough for cast iron. I found that an air compressor die grinder with a carbide burr works the best.

Also I would not do any port work while manifold is on the turbo. I removed mine from the turbo, but still use a paper towel to prevent shavings from dropping down.

I think with porting the waste gate port it helped with boost creep and held boost a little better up top. And cleaning up the discharge side with the 02 housing years like 7-10hp. Nothing you would feel but makes a difference when trying to extract you can out of a set up

Nice post, forgot about doing this kinda stuff. Kinda like the fp turboes for evos.

Specifically like the extracting every horse out of a setup, for us less hp quicker spool people

Ya pretty much. Those FP's are real nice for stock frame set ups. My buddy had a red and it moved on mine I had the stock VIII turbo and the only thing I could do was port it but I was maxed out just about

This ftw ! Ive used my die grinder to get the rough out then clean it with a dremmel . I spent hours on my manifold , j pipe , and exhaust housing . Not sure on the hp gains though would like to know if there is real bennifit to it .
