Thread: Alluminum Exhaust?

I am here debating to get this done in order to save some weight. I was just wondering if anyone on here has had this done?

I am thinking to stick with 3" and use the new Vibrant alluminum muffler then add a 3" turn down.

Thoughts? Maybe even run two mufflers to keep the noise level down a bit.

They are bad ass and sounds great to me. Some people do not like the tone.

My turbo car will get a full 3 or 4" aluminum exhaust will one of these mufflers before the convention.

what kind of full you guys going to run?

race gas does eat into the material, causing you to have to replace it periodically

Do it, you will save a good 35-40 lbs or more depending on what exhaust you have on there now. You would want to do it from the downpipe back. Dont do the downpipe in aluminum as it will sag at the bends. Nearest I would do alumininum with how your mounting your turbo would probably be at the back of the engine bay just before it does the little S bend.

Turbo cars aluminum exhaust sounds great from the clips ive heard, all motor is a different story, you get alot of buzzing and loud because of the resonance.

Great way to save some weight. Just don't let it get too hot. Running an aluminum muffler never made any sense to me. If you're going so far as an aluminum exhaust, WTF is a muffler for? I wouldn't do it unless it was to meet racetrack noise level restrictions. Aluminum exhaust on a street car? Ehh...

Yeah just get you 2 aluminum v-band connections and make yourself a two piece exhaust. Again should save you alot of weight. With as much/as little as you drive your car you wouldnt have to worry about it and with your setup it should sound really good without being too loud. I wouldnt even do the muffler as it should still be pretty quiet unless your wanting the muffler for looks instead of having a nice fat 3" pipe come out the back.

You dont have to use aluminum mufflers as well. Just do a vband connection to the muffler you already have.

If you have to use a muffler, I'd make sure it was aluminum too. Kinda defeats the purpose you know.

Mufflers are pretty light in general depending on what style you have. Again or just run no muffler at all unless you want it more for looks. Either way with or without a muffler it should be fairly quiet and have a very nice tone when on the gas.
