You should have bought the head flange from Mazworx it's cheap and no modification necisary to fit a ve head and the machine it to accept the weld l's

I'm interested in the SS flange if they are thick enough!

As for merge collectors, I've found some for under $100. The thing is, I don't know if I will have clearance for one. Thus I'm going to try to make one first.



I have a Protech log for a DE, the flange is same thickness might be even a little thinner.

Bruce from Protech has been great though, he gave me a lot of good advice on how to setup the MIG for welding this manifold up.



I'm giving it a shot first, if it fails then I'll just tac and send it off to a tig. I did a test but weld though, it's fairly strong!

I was going to order theirs, but I didn't like having to sign up for an extra website etc. etc. This one was $40 shipped, but by the amount of work I had to put into it I wish I went with the Mazworx one. If only they were selling it on eBay (along with other things they do sell).

Mazworx sells them on ebay also.

We'll see if they get back to me. I might just buy the proper one so that it doesn't kill the flow! But that also means I can't start building it until the new flange arrives .

Welded up a guide rod, that would work as a jig too. Started adjusting the manifold flange to see what angle would work best.


Taced it in place



Started checking the fitment and bending the guide rod until fitment was right.




I'm trying to get it fairly close to the block/VC so that I don't have any radiator clearance issues.


Realized that the bottom mount was getting in the way of the pipe routing. Welded one to the top and removed the lower one.



Removed the ugly looking welds and evened out the flange.

Finally after trying to fit the individual runners, this seems like the best way to connect all of the runners to the merge pipe. Trying to keep the firing order circular (1-3-4-2).

One thing, that angle on the flange while similar to a log manifold is going to be very tough to bet the collector and runners welded up nicely. Why not just reclocke the turbine housing to where the flange can move outward a bit away from the head. Should still give you plenty of clearance to the radiator and so on and should make doing the runners much easier and also installing and removing the manifold much easier. Gonna be a lot going on to get all those runners into that location.

Nice, your going to want to reposition the flange and lay it flatter,there's will be real tight trying to get a collector done. Just a observation
