Its been a lot of work in the making. Alot of the problems have come from transmission issues. Making the power is not a problem. When we first got the car, it honestly was a huge mess but spending time of getting it worked out has paid off.
When we first got the car and started running it, it ran into clutch issues so we switched it out to a twin disc with hydraulic release bearing setup. That started working out good and was able to keep the power then the outer casing broke. We spent a few month designing the new billet outer casing and then started making full hard hits on it. After about the 6th hit, the driver noticed something wasnt right so we shut it down and came back to the shop. Next day we took the transmission apart and found that part of the bellhousing had cracked and broke. Now that we fixed the outer casing issue, the bellhousing decided to show its ugly face. We kinda knew it was going to happen because of the opposing forces in the transmission now. So we made some quick braces inside the weak areas of the bellhousing and welded it together so we can get some more hits out of the car.
Got the car back together and headed to the track and first hit went 10.2@146. Now mind you this whole time, we've kept the boost level at around the same (24psi) on a Garrett GTX4294R just to get a good feel for the car as you notice the trap speeds are around the same. Never turned on the boost controller. Finally after getting a good feel for the car and really easy shifting in the car, it finally went 9.8@146. So now we have finally hit the first goal of getting the car to break nines.
We might be looking into making a billet bellhousing also for it also, but this maybe later on down the road. The tire size is as big as we want to go reliably without breaking more parts and this tire size realistically should hold the power and a bit more without issue. Do realize this is an AWD vehicle so it has be launched and driven totally differently than a FWD or RWD car.
But for sure we will be turning the screws loose come Jun 1st-3rd at the SR20 Convention
