det intake manifolds *highport
I've done a fair amount of research on the subject and have obviously concluded that I would love to get an 02 induction IM....those don't pop up for sale as much anymore though. I saw ashtons manifold and it looks nice, but couldn't find any threads on his numbers with it.

All the ve guys take up most of the market building a motor currently but I don't really feel like going the vvl route.

Options? I have a close friend who is a machinist and porting the stock manifold wouldn't be an issue but is that really one of the only options I have?

*shooting for a super efficient 375 to 400 gt2871r setup on meth

EDIT- KS racing IM throwing this link in here so I don't have to keep googling their site to remember =p

you will be just fine with a stock im for your goals.

throw in some s4's crank the boost and tune away

I never put down any dyno numbers after switching to it. However the gains were there. After I put it on with the Q45 TB 20psi felt like 24 psi with the stock manifold and TB. 24psi felt way better, and 30 psi just felt awesome.

Again if you read through my thread on the small fitment issues you can see what your getting into. But the manifold definitely outflows the stock one and thats the key thing especially in boosted applications. Again well worth the price of the manifold and the small issues which were mainly the fuel rail only using two bolts to hold it down which wasnt a big deal because it sealed just fine and never had issues with it and the issue with the long intake manifold bolt on the drivers side outer and upper most bolt, had to grind a bit off the head of the bolt to get it to go in. Again he might have cleared that issue up by now but again not a huge deal.

You can have him set it up to use a modified Idle air control valve which he provides or use a ve one which you can just attach a hose straight to. I would go the VE route as you avoid having to buy fittings and stuff.

All things aside, the manifold did its job even though I couldnt throw down some dyno numbers with it, the numbers at the track and the way it felt on the street were plenty enough for me.

Ashton, are you referring to this thread? Custom intake manifold pics
Some good info in there, but didn't see alot about fitment issues. Or am I just blind?

I'll be doing some research on the VE IAC as well. A little more detail on why a stock IAC would be more of a PITA would help me understand why to use the VE if you could .

I see from the packaging it looks like he also sent you all the vacuum fittings you needed to go with the manifold as well.

This ^^ is why I'm interested in something better than stock, the 2871r is close enough to being maxed out to make the numbers I'm looking for even with meth and 20-24 lbs. I would like to let the system breathe better so the turbo doesn't have to work so hard to produce those numbers. Throttle response and quick spool are on the same tier with my hp goals because the car will be 75/25 autox/drag strip.

But you were half right, the car will be getting a set of S4's.
