do all det's come with 54c pistons or only gtir's?

what fuel pressure were you running. 50lb injectors are good to 350whp @3bar. 16-18psi should have maxed the injectors with a decent tune.

the 54c piston was used in other det's than the gtir.

I ran 44psi-3bar, I was making about 330whp/311tq on a dynotech dyno..
the tune was tuned on the conservative side afr's where 11.1 across the power band never higher than that..Ithink my injector's maybe flawed.

I've had another DET standing by collecting dust for while that I almost parted out..

extra motors and transmissions are always good to have around.

Oh YEAH!

Looks to be some detonation that happened in small bouts over time. If it really were hitting that hard to do this in short order the pistons would probably be cracked.

Looks like it could be a lean issue, but I would think that the heat just couldn't get out. Maybe timing was an issue, but I would think that lean from a faulty injector can be ruled out because it happened with all four.

You know, not a lot of people would "agree", but I noticed that my knock light would go crazy if I bumped the limiter. Turned out that on the dyno the wideband showed very lean conditions up to, and during fuel cut.

Even on conservative timing, I burned some pistons because of the rev limiter. I have a MSD streetfire ignition cut now and I haven't seen the same detonation. Could be a lot of things that could cause it, but you would be the best to really understand why this happened.

X2, I agree. From what I remember I believe the op was running a 2.5 exhaust, so it might actually be more of heat than lean.
I still would like some good pictures of the plugs.
