Try to keep everything standard. The aftermarket rods will use standard bearings as long as the crank is in good shape which as long as it hasnt spun any bearings there is really no reason it shouldnt be. Just have it micropolished and go with standard size ACL bearings on the mains and rods. Simple enough.

Yeah you will be fine for 9:1 pistons. Same ones im using but the VE specific ones with valve notches.

Just keep it simple.

Yes, I plan on keeping everything standard. The crank looked good when I pulled it out. The machine shop polished the crank and mic'd the journals.

Crank Measurments:

Mains:
2.1637 in.
54.95798 mm

Rods:
1.8883 in.
47.96282 mm

Im searching for the exact factory spec to compare. Im still looking into the difference in the rod bearings since this is a gtir. From what I understand the gtir has a 19mm wide rod bearing and the DE, DET(except gtir), and VE use a 17mm wide rod bearing. I need to find out if I use an aftermarket rod that uses the 17mm rod bearing, will there be any issues.

Is it possible to get CP pistons (flat not domed top) for a stock bore avenir det with valve notches so that if I decide to get some rediculous cams for my ve head I don't have to worry about the valves making contact with the pistons? If so do you have a part number?

If you get the ve 10:1 pistons they are pretty close to flat top as your gonna get and have valve reliefs. I dont recall if anyone else makes a flat top piston with valve reliefs other than the 11:1 20v pistons. But probably too high of compression for ya.

As far as using the 17mm rods on the 19mm gtir crank, its fine, no need to worry about that. The side play doesnt matter on those. You will just need to use the 17mm bearings as well.

I believe one of the few to make a gtir specific 19mm rod is Carillo. But those are money and I-beam rods. Again a 17mm h-beam rod should be fine for your build. If you want to save some money your GTIR rods would be just fine for your power goals as well. Pretty beefy rods from the factory. Again its up to you.

When I say flat top I mean like how the stock det ones look not completely flat lol. Sorry for thread jacking op

Ya, the side play with the smaller bearings is what I was worried about. I did some searching and Brian Crower makes a set of forged I-beam rods for the sr20 with 19mm bearings but they are $680 a set rather than about $300 for a set of Eagle rods. Like you mentioned, I could use my stock rods since they are still in good condition and it would be a cheaper alternative.

Thank you for the help.

You can have any rod machined to accept 19mm bearings, mazworx does this service.
