The 18g is a great turbo. JohnnyWangwang used that turbo with great success, gtir manifold modified with external gate and 18g. Made 330+whp on 15-17 lbs i believe. His car pulled pretty well and great response. That and the fact you can get them cheap really helps.

he didn't have a gtir manifold.

Not quite giving up yet, but I want a smaller turbo meanwhile. This way I can keep on building the manifold in my spare time . Plus I don't think I want a 500whp turbo for a 300whp setup yet. I will eventually want to move up, so building that for the future .

I just got a 120cf tank full of trimix, so gotta use it up now on something.

the gtir manifold and stuff is going to run him more than the turbo itself!

That is true, lol. Vadim, you will wonder why you didn't do this from the beginning. I think wang wang was closer to 350-400whp on a de with s4 cams

he didn't like the fact that it wasn't water cooled. I had like 4 set up lined up for him, a gt3076r, gt2860r, gt2871r and the 18g. he got none of them :P.

Turbos have been oil cooled for many years without issues. Water cooled turbos are more a oem style safety measure since people don't let their cars spool down, which like I said, can be fixed with a turbo timer

it's not him or the turbo he was worried about. it's him trying to be safe just incase he needs to lend his car.
