I was seriously about to buy some Shockproof and add it to my MT90, 5 quarts of this costs as much as one quart of ShockProof (shipped) costs!)

Thanks for letting me know lynch!!!

I really cant believe that I was one of the first people to use this in our trannies, lol. Everyone thought I was crazy when I kept saying people this is awesome stuff, go from breaking 3 gearstacks in 3 months to the next one lasting 9 months at 90whp more than I was at when the others broke. The sure enough I got people to finally start using it and see for themselves and now its becoming common thing for turbo guys.

I just switched back to 75w90 for my 6 speed. The thicker stuff worked, but in this cold weather it would practically kill the engine in neutral when the clutch was released for a cold start.

I put the 75-90 in there today and took it out for a spin and I feel much better about this oil in my particular transmission. The thicker oils made 2nd hard to engage while the gear oil was really cold, and it would grind sometimes. Put in the lighter weight and it is tons better.

But yeah, I didn't have any issues at all with the 85w140 in regards to tranny breakage... in the 6 speed. The 6 speed is holding up nicely, but there is still a lot of hard miles ahead

yeah i can see in cold weather how it would be a pain. We had a couple days in February when i got the car done that were down to 30-35 in the mornings and i had to rev the motor up and let the clutch out in neutral to keep the motor from dying and sit there for about a minute or so and let the gear oil warm up enough. But after a couple blocks it was back to shifting great.

The oil has been used here forever. Ive alwayd thought it weird that people run 75w90 and 10w30/10w40 oil on turbo setups. I understand for colder temps but for the rest of the year id run heavier oil.

Not as bad as honda kids who drop in factory gear oil or 30w oil in the trans on their turbo cars. Ive given up on advising and just wait for the trannies to bust for the labor. Only way that many people seem to learn.

I know that car!...used to daily drive it, then traded it to my brother....I even bought it off a member here years ago. FWIW, I was the second owner and it is an original AZ car. When I let it go, it had Hyperco springs, Konis, Motivational rear mounts, sway bars, strut bars, and ES inserts all over the place. The motor/drive train was bone stock minus the WAI and ebay header. Glad to see it's still soaking in the sun out here in the desert
