Maybe this guy could go on the drivers side and the above AP50 or 70 could fit on the passengers?...hmm...

My personal experience with fans and cooling system taught me never to cheap out. It's unfortunate that it took me two turbo cars to realize this.

lol Vadim, nice post as always

I'd say the fans/radiator situation is probably the only part I cheaped out on when I did the build and I've had good luck with it so far. The cheap ebay fans move enough air for me to be satisfied. I can just drive my Maxima on extremely hot days if I want A/C. Again, I'd say 350 days out of the year the car does fine, it's only those extreme heat days where I was seeing the car get hot with A/C on..with a turbo car of course.

Also, I think your fans melted because your're top mount and the exhaust housing was too close to the fans. My slim fans sit pretty far away from the turbo as I'm bottom mount. I also have a heat shield on my J-Pipe & exhaust manifold.

Gotta love the G20's..stock fans fit! I'd definitely run stock fans if they would fit, but no luck on b14's way too tight w/turbo.

Get the thinner one. I have a fal, I bought the wrong one. The motor area is about an inch and a half longer than a true fal slimfan, made it a pita for a downpipe, needed to make some extra bends.

well heres the update i found out that the manifold melted the wire on one of my fans. that one then shorted out the other fan and no fans were spinning the whole time. we managed to get one of the fans to work but my mechanic think the motor may already be damaged. so probably gonna throw a boosted sr18 into the car and daily it and build something new

Damn that is unfortunate.

yeah it is but my mechanic is cool he not charging me any labor fees only for parts and he's giving me an sr18 to drive around on until then atleast on its on boost so it shouldn't be so bad but im consider trading for an accord really thinking about getting back into the honda game

It's hard for me not to be biased about it, I'm fairly annoyed by it actually. I have another VE sitting on a pallet jack waiting to go into my wife's car. I'm contemplating on if I want to take a daily out of service... before I go back turbo or after...

Keep in mind I have more airflow then a stock VE engine. With more airflow you have to run less timing. Check out a SR16/N1 tune vs SR20VE one. The timing is less aggressive since you can hit your max torque with not as much of an advance.

There is a marginal diffrence in the flow of the fans, but a $40 price diffrence and the bottom one is an 30mm thicker at the motor
area! Thanks guys....

Keep in mind the size of the shroud around the fans. SPAL measures fans at the blade level, not at the shroud level.

Like the first fan is 336mm tall and 321mm wide, or in American 13.2" tall and 12.6" wide. I didn't know SPAL did that and didnt look close enough to the actual spreadsheet. I ended up with two 13" fans, which are really 14" shroud wise. I could barely fit them on the B13 Koyo!

What I did is got a the thinnest SPAL for passenger side, and the 2.5" thicker one for the Driver side. Also check on eBay and Amazon, I got both of mine at around $100 shipped.

Fans and Radiator is the part that I always cheaped out on too, I've learned my less though. My wife is there to remind me with the story how it took us 15hours to drive on a 12 hour trip, Heater on full blast in 100*F weather .

I bought a G20 for a reason though, I didn't want to get a Maxima. So to me having ponies and AC is a big commodity.

The fan next to the downpipe melted because it was too close, I wrapped my down pipe with header wrap and bought the 2" SPAL. But the wires on the eBay fans are so thin that they melted on both fans.

Actually G20's have a little bit less space. Especially with the radiator not being under the radiator support.

How hot did your motor get? Also Boosted SR18's are a waste of your time and will cost more then an Avenir!

Vadim G20s have more space than SERs between radiator and motor eventhough the G20 raditor sits outside the support in the engine bay. I measured this about 5 months ago when i had the same koyo rad and turbo setup going on a G20 and SER. It fit no problem on the G20 but the turbo hit the rad on the SER.

my fans were pretty close to the manifold but i think when i do it over this time im gonna run on each side of the radiator probably a 14 puller and a 12 pusher and maybe ill still get reid of my godspeed radiator and go koyo
