SPAL fans are the best out there. I have put them on many cars and they flow way more air than stock fans. On my friends G20 turbo the AC worked ok, but when the SPAL fans were put on it was very cold at idle in stop and go traffic.

Keep in mind VE is higher compression, thus you will get hotter gasses coming out, thus you need a better cooling solution then a DET.

What radiator cap are you using?

Agreed, best $200 I've spent on my Turbo SR20. I don't even think I need a Koyo radiator with the SPAL's.

idk, my cheap ebay fans work pretty good. I'm also using a G20 radiator which is just slightly taller than the b14. Were you able to use A/C in 95+ hot days in stop and go traffic? That's the only time I noticed temps getting hot in my car.

one moe time get SPAL fans.

Your cheap ebay fans dont work good if they are not cooling the car in stop and go traffic at 95 and up degrees. A good fan shows its worth when you put high demands on the cooling system.

Any crappy fan can work in 80 degree weather.

One Spal fan of the same size of the stock fan flows the same amount of air as both your stock fans without a shroud

Guys seriously, stop believing what a $30 fan tells you CFM wise. Put your hand behind the stock fan when it kicks on and behind a cheap slim fan. I wish I could run stock fans, they are probably the best at sucking heat out, especially with the specifically designed shroud for them.

The cheapo fans will hold you without AC, but with AC you will be in 200's in no time. Also if you do any hard driving, Auto-x or even mountain driving, she will overheat.

Yeah I see what your telling me I put my hand infront of both fans my stock and my slim fan and the stock pushes more air.

But I still don't see why the fans would make his car overheat Florida weather lately has been nice.

Ha I couldn't use AC even on 80*F days and driving under 60mph. It would stay over 200*F at all times. Stop and go traffic wouldn't do nice things either.

My personal experience with fans and cooling system taught me never to cheap out. It's unfortunate that it took me two turbo cars to realize this.

On the VE-T P11, I was using stock radiator, fmic blocking the flow, water cooled CHRA adding heat, and finally AC condenser adding heat (when AC is on the condenser got as hot as 190*F. That's all hot air hitting the radiator.

Some of my advices:
Don't use cheap parts store water pumps. Had to experience the dreadful SR20 water pump replacement.

Cheap fans don't flow at the rates they claim at. This caused my radiator to blow up. I was driving from Saint Louis, MO to Virginia, about 6 hours in, my radiator cracked when I stopped for gas. I had 6 hours left to drive...

Here is a quick fix that got me home, I had to add water on the drive back.

I suggest you get an aluminum radiator from day one for any turbo car. It will avoid the trouble I ran into. This B13/B14 Koyo costed me $310 shipped brand new.

It's too short for P11's, but the crap with it, it works well!

Replace your thermostat with a brand new one the first time. And boil it to make sure it opens at the correct time, oh and make some dinner while your at it.

Yum cheap fans that seized up and melted.

Yay to delicious SPAL fans that are really top notch.

I hate spending money when I "don't have to". By buying the cheap parts to begin with, I ended up creating headaches for myself and buying all new parts all over again. When you go turbo, you need to take the proper precautions otherwise you need to stay NA.

I know why, because VE in the P11 is a waste of money. P11's are too fat. Don't believe me? Check my side by side testing of a stock Roller Rocker P11 and my NA VE P11 here.

With the turbo and log mani and low cams, I made around 230whp. That made the car at least 2 seconds faster then NA VE.

Your end cap cracked because you didn't drill speed holes in it.

FYI, I had a P10 with a T25 VE ac and ps. Stock Radiator with an ebay and stock fan, never had an issue. The stock fan does push a hell of a lot more air than the pos ebay unit. Take out the thermostat. Do your radiator hoses get pressurized? Does coolant bubble out from the radiator with the cap loos? Is it consuming water?

My old Setup(I'll see if I have pics of the bay): http://www.sr20-forum.com/vvl/16344-dyno-trip.html

Pic of when I was tearing her down

Cleared AC fine when I had it on the car with the t25 kit.

Vadim, a VE in a P11 is not a waste of money. Something is just wrong with the car or your tuning is way off. I noticed that posted you had to subtract timing from a stock ve map. That right there should tell you something is off. Take the car to a decent tuner.

What kinda spal fans have you guys used? I've narrowed it down to a couple diffrent ones, both 12":
VA10-AP50/C-61A SPAL USA
VA10-AP70/LL-61A SPAL USA
There is a marginal diffrence in the flow of the fans, but a $40 price diffrence and the bottom one is an 30mm thicker at the motor
area! Thanks guys....
