Oil ring gone bad while installation
Hello people here's what happen I was in the process of putting my new cp piston in and what happen was one ofthe thin oil ring got caught onto the cylinder wall now it's bent really bad and the wall has a score in it but I honed it out n it's fine now you can see the scoring if you look very close but the question is

Will it be alright to use my stock oil ring on my new piston (just the one ring and the ring is facing inside)

Also my new pistons are .5mm over bore 86.5mm and my stock piston are 86mm using the 86mm rings on the 86.5mm block will have a much bigger gap compare to the other ring

Will that cause excessive blow by and have low compression

Plan on making 350 to 400 hp any suggestion or any with experience or know of please chime in thank you

Gtir engine 54c block n head

put your stock oil ring into the bore and see what the gap on the ring is. If it still falls within spec for the ring gap then id say you will be fine. The CP's use a standard type of oil ring basicly same as stock. You wont get blowby from a bad oil control ring. Thats top and secondary ring sealing problems. Oil control ring is what controls lubrication to the wall and scrapes the oil off to keep it from going past the secondary and top rings.

If they dont fall within specs dont use them as yes you could have some slight oil consumption. If they are within specs why not.

I had the same thing happen when putting an 86mm build together. Crappy ring compressor didnt do its job and the bottom oil control ring got bent. I didnt try to force it in so the wall never got damaged but the control ring was toast. I used a good condition stock one and did just what im telling you to do. Only difference being mine was on a stock size bore.

Also if you need a set of cp 86.5mm rings i have 3 spare sets laying around. If its not within spec and you want one, just pay for shipping and I will send you out a set of rings for one piston. LMK
