OK so I think I may have found my lean idle issue, or at least most of it..
I let the car run and I cautiously sprayed starting fluid on hoses clamps and couplers, idle and afr didn't change, so then I sprayed the maf plug and BOOM afr went rich as hell, repeated this several times to be sure that's what it was. I also saw that where the sensor comes down inside the tube part of the maf was wet with starting fluid so I let it dry out as I took the maf apart to reseal it.
I was able to pry the plug part out a bit carefully after I took the 4 screws out an I shoved some rtv down in there an then tightened the screws back up, I also resealed the cap, it looks like crap but as long as it works until I can get one of them aluminum housings I'll be happy.
So far its working ok, right away I noticed my cruise afr's were really rich compared to what I had them at, so there's definitely a difference, I made some adjustments and it seems to be doing a lot better, it still stays lean for a few seconds after coming to a stop, but not for 20-30 seconds like it was.
Moral of the story is, going blow through with unmodded 15-20 year old mafs is kinda silly.. but the throttle response is way better then draw through and due to having a better intake setup an straighter cold side piping my butt dyno is sayin I'm def makin more power. Once I get it more dialed in I'll go for some Virtual Dyno runs!
