Temp spikes
Been noticing that after a couple of pulls my dummy temp gauge will slowly raise a bit then come back down after a minute or two. Will not go up much, maybe 2-3mm. Compression tested the motor yesterday and came out 160-162psi across the board and coolant tract was pressurized and I have no leaks. Coolant was properly bled and both fans work great. I still have my AC condenser plus a large front mount. What is causing this? Guessing the stock cooling setup just wont handle the power? Currently running a built DET(8.5cr) with a GT2860RS @ 7psi.

Cooling setup
170* Thermostat - replaced last weekend
14" and 12" ebay slim fans - no shrouds.
OEM 99 P11 radiator
OEM radiator cap
50/50 coolant/water mix

the dummy gauge is worthless it takes a 30deg temp change before it will show on the gauge. I would start by getting a real water temp gauge. I would not run a stock radiator on a turbo car but I know others have with out issue.

my ve started doing that, did it for about a month before it overheated and blew the gasket. Cause was some sediment had clogged up the water jacket passages on the head gasket so it wasn't circulating the water.

Seems to only be happening after I have been driving the car for awhile, guessing i'm right on the edge of the cooling capacity of my stock radiator. Ordered a mishimoto that should be here next week.

Sounds like ur headgasket is failing, it will only get worse as time goes on.

Stratton.

Finally got consult hooked up and found out how useless the dummy gauge is, it will peg 'h' when at 101*C. Turning on the heat cures the problem so I have a feeling with two ebay slim fans and the stock radiator it just can't keep up with the heat.

possibly, id get a real water temp gauge on there regardless.

slim fans and a koyo wont hurt.

you may be expriencing motor heat soak during spirited drives and it takes a bit for the engine temp to come back down on the highway.
