Stock sr20ve + disco potato turbo.. Suggestions?
Hey guys, i've got my sr20ve running nice.. Pretty fun for a Daily, but i tend to track this car in a couple months or so. I have a friend who is selling his complete turbo kit from his sr20ve and just wanted to know what you guys thought of a STOCK sr20ve bottom end on Boost.??? Anything i should change, or will it hold up ok on Low psi 7-8lbs??

Compression on all 4 cylinders on my current sr20ve read 215 accross the board. I know it's a healthy motor, and i don't RAG on it everytime i drive it so i tend it to be healthy for the next couple years or so, until i can build a sr20ve FOR BOOST.

Thanks guys!

I say do it. 7-8psi is safe for sure. Just get the supporting mods with it.

don't see why not! boost tha bishh. Just as long as you don't plan on running ridiculous amount of timing / boost, you'll be fine. VE + Disco will spool really nice 'n quick.

Awesome, thank you guys.. I've just had real bad luck, in the past, with a Honda on Boost. But for the most part, it was the TUNER who BLEW my engine on the dyno because i had all the correct supporting mods. 12lbs on a stock TYPE R ENGINE. IDIOT TUNER, i coulda told him 12lbs was WAY TOO MUCH..

JWT would be able to take care of the Tune right?? My friend actually sold me his Tuned JWT ecu from his Turbo setup, so i can send it to go get Tuned for my VE motor, but i might just wait if i buy his turbo setup so i won't have to waste Money RETUNING it again.

JWT is a good base tune, you wont make the most power, but it should be safe and reliable.

What do you mean by supporting mods? He said stock engine. Also, I had to pull a lot of fuel on my jwt ecu for my n/a ve. I think all tunes are different even for the same setup. I wouldn't just use a jwt ecu. Just to be safe I would fine tune with a safc.

good luck tuning the timing map with an safc.. one of the biggest issues when slapping a turbo on a stock ve is you gotta play it safe an not run to much timing, i've seen some jwt tunes do wonders, then i've seen them run like crap.. it seems hit or miss an really blanket tuning isn't the best option to make power but if it was just to be Safe, sure a jwt would work. But if your going to buy one of those why not just spend a little more an go nistune an have full real time tunability.
