I have seen the sr16ve non n1 cams work out great on a setup similar to that and it will be what I run.

I for one prefer the 2.0 cams for a VE-T

I prefer the quick mid range response. With running a bigger turbo I feel the quick response down low in the power band is more beneficial. I am not a huge fan of RPM's per say. I am 100% OK with shifting my car around 7800 RPM or so. With the 2.0 cams the cars just feel a lot more aggressive. More wheels spin yes but, that is where tires and whoever is piloting the car comes into play.

Test the two on adyno and see. We know sr16s make more power on large turbos but w a 35r it might be close. Mid vs peak. So I say test it. The cams are dirt cheap

I feel like the SR16 cams are great, but they want a bigger turbo on the top end. My sr16 cams made more mid-range power than my 2.0 cams but the top end of the 1.6 cams suffers on my particular setup. Just my experience, though as limited as it is. On low boost the 1.6 cams really seem to do well. I think 320whp on 10psi is awesome for my setup. But as the boost goes up, the cams seem to struggle to make power.

The SR20ve cams were in the engine for a limited time. I made 450whp on 22-23psi with them but that was on a bad engine lol. I would like to be able to test all 3 cams side by side on the dyno for everyone to see. but getting the dyno time to do it can be tough. I would have to spend 4-5 hours on the dyno.

Now, JP had great results switching to the SR16 cams, but his drive pressure ratio is a lot better than mine!

Depends on how you would like the setup better low end torque sr20ve cams ...if you are using the 0.63 turbine housing I would use the 2.0 cams too and if you can find the 20v that would be perfect. 0.82 sr16 .
you can do a search under my name and look at the dynos I post while back ... I think its was arround 50whp on a 62lbs turbo at the same boost sr16 over stock cams., similar to the 35r .

Sounds like you can do it with any set of cams depending on your setup. You really have to know exactly what you are trying to build and then choose the right cams.

I've never set up a VE-T or anything not that I haven't read up on it and all the cam talk tends to come down to; there are setups that work w 16 cams and ones that don't. Stock should definitely work because stock is like having a big set of S3s and some headwork.

You can take some of the overlap out but overlap isn't always a death sentence for a turbo... depending on the setup. It just seems that VE-Ts have to be set up more consciously and carefully than just hooking up a boost controller and cranking it up like most DE setups.
