Ok this post is gonna be long heh heh.

Got to the dyno and started strapping cars down. Lots of cool cars, and I had a ton of fun talking to everyone. I put in 100 octane and cranked the dial of the boost controller. "HIGH BOOST".

We get to putting my car on the dyno, and got to spinning the rollers with the VVL hitting at 6k rpm. First pull was 409whp. Boost ran up to 18psi or so, then dropped to 10psi. WTF?

Ran it again, this time the knob was all the way up... again 409whp. Not holding boost up top. Peaking boost at 6k and dropping back to 10psi by 8k.

I had the gain turned all the way down on the profec. So I bumped it to the middle and made another pull... backing the boost controller down just a little bit. Now, my boost gauge started reading boost 2psi higher than it is supposed to. When the car is off, it reads 1psi and my 10psi runs showed boost hitting 12psi. There is no way that boost is hitting 12psi with 10psi springs in 2 38mm wastegates.

So... what boost was I technically running? I am not completely sure on that. I will be investing in a map sensor electronic boost gauge down the road. I was hitting 19psi on the gauge solid to 9200rpm rev cut. This is PSIG and since my gauge reads a bit high... at least it is conservative on the numbers right?

So I did a pull to 9200rpm, car felt amazing and sounded great on the dyno. The engine sounds oh so sweet revving out to over 9k.

So I got my results and went for a drive. With the VVL hitting at 6k, the top end pull is amazing. Drop out of VVL and the engine turns into a stock VVL, which lugging 4 people around becomes a chore until the VVL hits again.

On the way home, I put the VVL shit at 5k and it feels a ton better in the mid-range. Finding the perfect point to transition may take a while of driving to perfect.

Hmmmm... should I post results here just to get flamed on what the car did on this dyno?

I'm sure a lot of you would be disappointed. But keep in mind, this dyno run was in 3rd gear, VVL hitting at 6k, boost around 19psig with a bad gauge... on a map sensor I bet it was only 17psi.

Also keep in mind that this LAST YEAR'S dyno read 421whp with 330wtq, but on the dynojet it made 478whp with 438wtq. That is a huge difference in torque, but the dynomite wasn't enough to get the boost over 22psi. The dynojet was getting 26psi.

I should add that I was at 14* base timing... for safety. and it made more than 409whp on the final pull.

Well depending if your gauges is accurate and a problem with the boost controler, if you were only seeing 10psi at 8k and up, then your power is already looking really good being your going to peak power above that.
