Well I got the turbo on... sort of. the intercooler piping needs to be re-routed. The coolant lines still need to be deleted. And the downpipe needs to be re-flanged.

Turns out the 3" 6262 V band is ACTUALLY a 2.5". So I have to have the downpipe modified to fit. also, I had to take out the bolts from the thermostat housing and bend it out of the way. So the thermostat housing is no longer bolted to the head. It seems sturdy enough to be fine though.

I will post some pics of the work I've been doing. But the fact the DP won't bolt up really threw a kink at me i wasn't expecting. Once the downpipe is modified it should go together pretty quickly I would imagine. But there is some more fab work to be done for sure.

So its smaller than the one you originally had or what? Weird.

All the posts online that ive seen about the precision turbo, the vband outlet is a 3" vband.

Interesting.

maybe you got the wrong one, i'd look into it before going to far.

Nevermind, apparently the 6262 is a 2.5" vband outlet. The 6765, 6766, 6768 are 3" vband outlet.

Correction again, the standard size is 2.5" vband but you can get the same .63 and .82 housings in 3" vband outlet.

But the standard size for the 6262 is the 2.5" while the 67mm turbo standard size is 3"

Here you can see how close the radiator hose is to the housing.

Much to my surprise, the 3" Precision is not 3", but rather 2.5". The precision turbos don't come with a "true" 3" Vband. LAME!

Here is the size difference on the turbine.

So the downpipe was an upset. Moving the thermostat housing to make room for the bigger compressor housing... also is kinda discouraging. I guess it isn't that big of a deal, but i definitely don't want the coolant pipes cracking from vibration or anything like that. Kind of a bummer.

But I have been reassured by my buddy Skippy that the 6262 is an insane turbo, and he has little doubts I won't have trouble nailing 400whp on 1 bar of boost or less. But we will have to see.

I may try taking the car down to ELEMENT and see if I can get the fabrication all done there before end of next week. I want to do some more porting of the manifold as well just to get the best flow out of it.

Yeah it really puts it into prespective how much bigger the 6262 is compared to your 30r. look at the wheel size difference alone. You could make some spacers out of some hollow tubing from lowes and just get some longer bolts. Shouldnt be too hard. That way you can actually move it off the compressor housing becasue as it stands right now im almost certain with the movement in the housing/coolant pipes and engine vibration you will wear a hole in the hose in no time.

get some tubing that can fit the bolts and create a spacer and some longer bolts.

2.5 vband is gay. get it swaped if you can rather than modding dump

The hose clears the compressor housing. It looks really close though. I will make sure it fits without any interference with the radiator hose.

The turbo is larger, but the turbine is the biggest difference! The turbine is huge! The compressor is almost the same one as the 60-1 that other guys have had good luck with here. The new CEA turbine is really cool, and probably a little better flowing than the 60-1. Couple that with a bb center, and billet wheel, and I expect it to spool like a 60-1. How much power it makes is anyone's guess. God, I wanted to drive this thing soooo bad today. I wish there was a way to make it all work just for a test drive

After much reading, it turns out that this is the only one Precision makes. They have a specific Vband that works with a 3" dp too. But the T4 turbos are the only ones with the "true" 3" vband.

I guess I am stuck with doing this
