Yea, these ran leaded fuel as well. I couldn't imagine having detonation on only 10psi of boost. I have heard that the spots can form from too high of jetting? I was running rich as a mother! 45psi base pressure... with the vacuum hooked up.

I was gonna say looks like you ran race fuel with the brown and grey buildup. lol. Yeah its probably normal then. Even race fuel will leave traces on the insulation. Its just hard to tell from the pics. Again thats why i suggested throwing a new set in there and do a couple pulls and see what they look like. If they are clean, nothing to worry about.

Last time I did it with new plugs I had like 1 spec on the insulator after running 15psi around 400whp. I took the timing down 1*. So I lost like 12-15whp. Needed 16psi to break 400whp after that.

Your probably good to go then. Cant wait for some numbers with the 20v cams. Seems as though the 6 speed is treating you well as well and thats always a great thing.

The 6 speed is sweet. The clutch feels nice and beefy. The transmission is shifting a lot smoother now. And the gearing rocks. 2nd still gets to 70mph+. 75mph at 3000rpm on freeway.

As always Coheed... you are the man!

The black spots are actually oil spots being burned into the insulator, that's why they might not be protruding.

This is why you need a tunable ECU man, you can take that *1 from the area that it's detonating, thus you don't loose that much power across board.

What is strange about these spots, they are tan in color. Not black. I wonder if they are some sort of deposit from the race fuel or something.

Will be very interesting to see where you end up with the switch point with the 20V cams.

What is interesting, is the timing is backed off a bit. When the car is on low lobes it feels great. Probably improved. The idle is more stable, believe it or not. It doesn't hunt for idle anymore, which is nice.

But the cams switch and don't feel like they hit as hard. Perhaps at 6k they will hit a lot harder. They seem to perform very similar to the VET cams from what I remember. The nice kick at 3800rpm from the 1.6 exhaust cam kicking in will be missed

But without the VVL engaged and the timing at approx 13* or so (best guess) I get 6psi of boost by 3000rpm.

the real story is going to come tomorrow with the timing back at my trusty timing mark. then the dyno. Then we will see what happens.
