I got the cams in, had to swap the harmonic balancer because the marks were off. They have been off for quite some time now. New one is on!
I put the 20v cams in. Everything went smooth. Started her up and lope lope lope. Only 10in vacuum. WTH. I have swapped cams a million times before without issues, but now I get a lopey idle. GRRR.
My buddies were over so I decided to fix it with their help, found the exhaust cam was off by one tooth, must have jumped timing on the first startup. Never had that happen before. Fixed it and went for a test drive after. Vacuum steady at 16-17".
Car runs great, even without it being timed yet, it was pulling really really good. I figured the 20V would have some loss of top-end power, but I don't notice any loss of power at all. Better than the SR16 cams? Hard to say, going to have to dyno it and see.
The 20V cams do have a smoother idle to them, for whatever reason. When measuring the cams, the Exhaust side looks nearly identical, but the intake side was larger by around .3" or so.
So everything is good. Got the new Pilot Super sport tires on it. They feel great. The cams feel good. Car feels good. All is good.
