6262 dyno Results and freeway vid p30
Well I ordered my new cams today from Greg V. I am going to take some advice from Miko and go for the 20V cams. They should be here by the dyno day next month and we can see if I can make more power on the dynomite than last year's 421whp.
I am going to miss the SR16 cams, but I am excited to see if the 20v cams will have any gains. They have similar duration, but more lift. Also, they have a little less overlap which I suspect will help my top end power a little more since I am not using a larger turbo.
I have just finished the battery relocation to the trunk. Here is my distribution block.
Here is the battery in the trunk, just need a box to cover it and hook up the vents. The main power is fused with a 250A fuse.
Here's the car as she sits. Just needs some coolant added, and clean up some wiring and vac lines and we are good to go.
I am really excited to see how the cams perform though. The SR16 cams seemed to hit earlier than the 2.0 cams and allowed for quicker spool. The mid range has lots of tranny-breaking torque, an increase over the 2.0 cams. But I remember the 2.0 cams holding better up top. I was going to do a back-to-back comparo but I don't think it is worth the dyno time.
OE SR20VE cams
Low lobe INTAKE - .331" LIFT /220º DUR - Low lobe EXHAUST -.260" LIFT / 244º DUR - OVERLAP - 0º
High lobe INTAKE - .421" LIFT /264º DUR - High lobe EXHAUST -.407" LIFT / 268º DUR - OVERLAP - 48º
OE SR16VE:
Low lobe INTAKE - .279" LIFT / 200º DUR - Low lobe EXHAUST - .313" LIFT / 244º DUR - OVERLAP - ---º
High lobe INTAKE - .437" LIFT / 280º DUR - High lobe EXHAUST - .437"LIFT / 280º DUR - OVERLAP - 70º
OE SR20VE 20V:
Low lobe INTAKE - .398" LIFT /228º DUR - Low lobe EXHAUST - .327" LIFT / 244º DUR - OVERLAP - ---º
High lobe INTAKE - .472" LIFT /278º DUR - High lobe EXHAUST - .439" LIFT / 280º DUR - OVERLAP - 57º
I will have tried every factory cam for the VVL other than the N1s on my car. Hopefully the 20Vs will kick ass. I have a feeling that as the backpressure builds in the turbine housing with RPMs, it overtakes the intake pressure and chokes the engine. The SR16 would prob work with a 1.06 open housing well. It just seems like they respond better to having less exhaust restriction.
