T4 will happen, but turbo fitment has to be accomplished first. Converting to a T4 will cost about $300 looking at the manifold. Not that expensive. But I am concerned with how much room I have to work with. Perhaps That will be the next step. But for now, this turbo has a .82 housing. I don't really have another $500 to throw at it to convert the housing+manifold to T4.

You already have the turbo?

If not buying t4 twin from the word go would be cheaper as you dont need to buy a separate housing. Maybe you need more peer pressure...

In saying that, would be cool to see back to back same set up, manifold turbo etc of t4 twin .84 vs t3 .82 I would say both housing would flow around the same.

So if you already have the turbo, yeah it makes sense to slap it on. Is it a 6262cea? or just a 6262?

Crunching some numbers to get specs on the different turbos.

The GT35r
82mm and 61.4mm compressor. 56 trim
68mm and 62.3mm turbine. 84 trim

GT3076r
76mm and 57mm compressor. 56 trim
60mm and 55mm turbine. 84 trim

PTE 6262
84mm and 62mm compressor.
71mm and 62mm turbine. 76 trim

PTE 6265
84mm and 62mm compressor
74.5 and 65mm turbine. 76 trim

I suspect the slower spool from the 6262 vs the GT35R is from the larger wheels. 2mm larger compressor major, and a much larger 71mm turbine major.

The 6262 has a lot in common with the old 60-1. Turbine is identical in size and trim. The compressor on the 60-1 is a bit smaller. The SC61 also in the same boat. The turbine is large in comparison to the compressor. The GT series turbos utilize the efficiency of the turbine, coupled with a large trim, to drive their compressors. The ratio on the GT series turbos means they require more push from the turbine to drive the larger compressor. At high boost levels they can make good power, but as we know the VE motor doesn't like backpressure. A small turbine and large compressor isn't the most effective on a VE.

The GT3076r is one of those turbos that is pushed out of the 15% window, having matched compressor and turbine wheels. The compressor is 21% larger than the turbine used to drive it.

The GT35r is much better. Only 17%. But larger compressors are still being thrown on this cartridge to make more power. It can, just not as efficiently. The GT3071r is much better matched turbo. 15% larger compressor than the turbine. Nicely matched.

The Precision turbos not only seem to put out more power on high boost levels, but also put out better numbers at low boost levels. The compressor on the 6262 is 13.5% larger than the turbine, yet they have the 6265 which utilizes an even larger turbine! Seems like a lot of NA engines perform better when the compressor size matches the turbine. what do I know? I'm gonna just test it and see what happens.

That is a big mofo. The compressor on the GT3788r is only 88mm ex with a 63.5 inducer.

I am not going to be going that big. I am really excited about this change guys. Hopefully 400whp comes as easily for my setup as many other's setups. what interests me is the fact that the 3076r has such a large mismatch between the wheels. a 21% difference in wheel size is even bigger than the HTA86 that is nearly 21%.

Moreso, I would like to see how the turbine's inducer size improves the leverage that the exhaust pulse exudes on the turbine to reduce the amount of backpressure. Or perhaps having a larger moment will decrease the amount of power the compressor drives from the turbine. I mean, the GT series turbine wheels flow really well. But it can't be just about the flow! Why does garrett do this but most other manufacturers will use a larger turbine?

Just some observations. Seeing as how other's have had such tremendous luck with the 60-1, SC61, and 6262, I cannot wait to see what happens. I've felt like the GT30r just couldn't compete with it's tiny turbine for years. I know the 6262 has a much larger compressor as well, but the turbine is matched very well to the compressor and I feel the flow will do awesome.

I also feel like the divided housing on the T3 GT3076r, though amazing for spool, hurts power after 7500rpm as backpressure builds in the housing. Many other twinscroll EVO guys complain about the same thing in back-to-back testing.

Tekkie had awesome results with his GT30r with the .82 open housing on his DE. Power never fell off.

I'm sure you guys can tell how excited I am to try it out. the local guy here said that this 6262 is the most impressive turbo he has ever seen grace his dyno.

Coheed, you wont want to ever look back. I would not be surprised if your are right close to 500whp at 20psi. You will be very very close.

It should be within the next two weeks. Hopefully by the UN dyno day on October 29th.
