sr20det possible tune malfunction?
Hey everyone,
I know the topic is very broad, I apologize,

I'm new to the forum, will be doing an intro when I find the intro page but...

On the way to a friends house, I hit 2nd gear and blew a coupler off,
I haven't done this in a while, the boost was much harder feeling than
usual.

Didn't realize it was the coupler, so I thought MAFS, being it was bouncing
revs at around 3k. But it was the coupler making it bounce early.

Cleaned the mafs, got a replacement, It didnt change, Still rich and bad revs.

The car now runs *extremely rich
*at idle will struggle to rev
*Under load it will rev better but breaks up

I have tried to *Check plugs and see for correct gap
*try a brand new mafs
*seal mafs to intake adapter better
*Check wiring (harness to pigtail)
*Check turbocharger
*Check all intercooler piping for boost leaks
*Cleaned throttle body for Blow By.

My set up is an s13 redtop w/ *spa 6300gts (gt28)
*Hks 555 Injectors
*Walbro 255 fuel pump
*z32 mafs
*z32 fuel filter
*Intercooler + piping kit
*Rocker Arm Stoppers
*Blitz BOV
*Chipped ECU

I hope you guys can help out, This forum seems much more professional and welcoming than some, Im sorry if im intruding and coming out of the gate with a big problem, I think my ecu may have dropped a tune, not sure.

thanks so much guys,
Hope I made things clear.

Mine did exactly that last time I blew a coupler off (don't ask ).
I pushed the coupler back on without the clamp, limped the 1 mile home staying off boost and it ran rich as hell. Got home, turned off, put the clamp around the coupler and tightened properly and problem disappeared.

Wierd!

As much as i thought the coupler would seal Ok even staying out of positive pressure in the IC pipework, clearly it didn't!

Danfiveten, I have a stock sr computer, but it is chipped for rom tunes,
Im not to familiar with electronics as I wan't to be, I don't have anything
to hook it up to, I was going to try Diag. Mode but didn't wan't to risk breaking
anything.

Kishada, maybe I ran to long with the coupler off and it still thinks its off?
Do computers have the ability to adapt and learn?

Software might not be your problem depending on your MAF location.

Check ALL the couplers in your system as an air leak will cause you to run rich if you're running a draw through set up like me (MAF pre turbo) rather than a blow through with the MAF on the cold side of the IC piping.

Checked everything out and tested for leaks on top of it, everything is good.

I talked to the guy that tuned the motor before I even owned it, he said
it sounds like the ecu crapped out, or the daughterboard or chips failed.

How does this happen just from driving? Does this actually happen?
Ive always had good running motors, let the tuners do the ecu work.
