Thread: Any pics with EGR connected?

Long story short my car would be codeless if it wasn't for the stupid EGR code. The egr is disconnected and I already tried the resistor mod on my 00 SE but that's pointless. It trips the light away.

I need this car codeless to pass state inspection next month. How do I make it happen? is it that simple to just weld the EGR back into the manifold? Does it matter which cylinder I get the exhaust from?

I realize not too many people do this but I would like to actually pass inspection (if you know what I mean :rofl

I've seen EGRed turbo manifolds. It's bad but I guess it gets the job done.

I had 96' codeless with the egr tube connected all the way in the downpipe.
Thw way it was routed was the tube coming from the valve was cut rigth below the distributor, to a high temp rubber hose all the way down to the downpipe where a 5/8 tube was welded.

After doing some research it seems like trying to weld onto a cast iron manifold is going to be ugly, which I definitely don't want. MY engine bay is ugly enough.


I kinda though of that idea this morning. What I had in mind was get some steel conduit piping (so I could easily bend it to the shape I needed), then come up from the stock EGR pipe, make a u bend and bring the conduit piping behind the tranny/motor and to the downpipe (like you mentioned). The only thing I wasn't sure of was whether or not there would be any issues with the exhaust flowing back to the EGR due to the angles and bends.

By high heat hose do you mean silicone hose? I rather not use a rubber hose, even if it's silicone though LOL, I rather use something that will definitely handle the heat.

Me personally would not used the rubber hose. It seemed to be a regular oil resistant rubber hose, like a heater hose. But I tell you what, I never had an issue with it and i drag race the sh*t out of that car.

Any ideas on what materials I can use to extend the EGR pipe? Is the factory EGR pipe copper? I have been searching for a while but can't get a definite answer!

So far I'm thinking maybe copper pipe because it has a high melting point but how the hell am I going to get it to mate with steel exhaust pipe?
